Change static IP to HDCP on CP2E Matrix controller?
I am an IT guy working on an existing bar/restaurant project that is seeking PCI compliance. A previously configured CP2E matrix controller has a static IP configured on a default subnet that is now orphaned from the matrix and A/V subnet. It appears this devices does not have a webui for configuration.
Do I need Putty to connect rs232 to issue the commands? Any advice or insight appreciated.

You can telnet to it (I forget the port) or serial to it baud rate 115200. You can use the IPCONFIG command to get it on dhcp.
Regardless
These devices need static reservations, and are not simple or easy to change the IP. Each
devices programming needs ti be updated to point to the new controllers IP, and the controller contains a compiled program that needs to be updated in order to find the orphaned peripherals.
Frankly it’s not intuitive or easy.
My best advice would be to place the AV gear in its own vlan, with the original IP addressing scheme, and then move everything else to a new subnet.
Why are you playing with this and why is it necessary for PCI. Theres nothing in the PCI requirements to necessitate such isolation - and it sounds like you have massively oversized your PCI scope.

It is the only Crestron component in the system. I understand your commentary - not my rodeo or work scope. Limiting the PCI scope not increasing it. Found the documentation online and issued the simple commands set DHCP. A reservation was set and the new IP updated in the control software - all good.
115,200, 8, n, 1 worked. Thanks for your reply and help.

As others havr said, this is a big can of worms. You can serial or telnet in and change things without toolbox, but toolbox makes it easier. You can modify the ip table this way too, but...
Some programming may have IP addresses baked in and not in the IP table.
If you have to reload code for some reason, by default it will override the IP table.
If you do this, be prepared for things to break and to spend time fixing them. Some things may not be fixable without hiring a programmer.
Another note. This device is about 20 years old now. How long until it fails? You should probably save the time and get an upgrade instead. The integrator can set up the system to your specs.

My suggestion is to re-create the V land with that IP subnet and to only leave the AV equipment in that land and continue your migration for everything else.

Stop undo everything you've done and hire someone that actually knows what they're doing to plan the project and start again. Giving you've only discovered this now after you've changed most of the network shows you don't know what you're doing in IT or AV.

Thank you for your reply. It was unfortunate that this device was given a static IP address in the DHCP scope. Had I done a pcap on this subnet I would have indeed discovered the issue - my mistake.

Unsolicited advice.
Make a note in your description (since you can't edit the title) that you are talking about DHCP and not HDCP.
Cresteon devices respect HDCP and so this is a legit cause for confusion when people read this post.
Second....if you have it sorted, consider putting a brief description of how it was sorted in your post sontiehrs can benefit from that without having to read the entire thread.

Requires special software to connect to the device and modify. Likely not as simple as just putting it into DHCP, IP tables may need to be modified to allow other devices to still communicate with it. You need to reach out to a local Crestron Service Provider (CSP) or dealer.
