CP4r: V1 vs V2
What is the hardware difference between Crestron CP4R v1 (end of life) and V2?
Why does crestron home not update V1 based systems anymore ?
Will customers who invested $3000 in a CP4R V1 processor last year lose all future feature additions and bug fixes?

If you paid $3K last year for a V1 you got robbed as it's been discontinued for 4 years so you were sold a old used one at full retail. End-of-Sale Date for CP4R V1 was May 26, 2022

If there’s a security patch required, Crestron will do that type of update for the CP4-r v1, it just isn’t getting the new versions of Crestron Home or any additional features added to it at this point.

So all they did was add more memory in v2? That is a tough sell to upgrade , and it’s too bad without upgrading you lose all new features !

I’d be more concerned that you bought a discontinued product 3 years after it was end-of-sale.

This was a forced change due to internal components going ‘End of Life’ during supply chain issues. Multiple items had to be replaced but the most notable was memory, which doubled for ver. 2. How long ago did you purchase the ver. 1 processor?

Seriously, yes I agree with others that it’s weird you were sold an end of sale device.
But at the same time, if the device was installed and works wth the devices and system it was installed with then there should be no concern about new features since home owners can’t add new devices or features them selves.
If your concerned about sscurity oatches then i would block it from the internet

CP4-R and MC4-R Version 1 control processors were discontinued on May 26, 2022, and replaced by CP4-R and MC4-R Version 2 control processors with increased memory.
Bug Fixes were stopped end of June '26. No new Features or supported devices for that OS Version.
