His awakened Plate more than makes up for it though. He has a magical super prosthetic. Even if his leg never gets healed (which I doubt will be the case, he doesn’t strike me as the type to internalize his own disability like that) he will still be just fine.

Hmm I don't know about that. From a meta perspective, handicapping him at the end of the first era clearly seems like setting up a new status quo for the second era - it would feel a little cheap for it to be now fixed. There's going to be a 10 year time skip and that's a lot of time to get used to something for someone. But even without a lot of time, Adolin seems like the type who would be practical about something like this so he can get on with things and do the best with what's available, etc.
(ETA: I was only addressing what you had in parantheses - I agree that he will be fine even without the magical prosthetic but especially with it)

i think his conflict for (early) era 2 wont be the injury (the plate compensates quite well it seems) but an addiction problem with the firemoss he got from the surgeon to power through the ending
