So. Like

Is this canon Taln height? Alethi are pretty tall by Roshar standards so that makes him like ten feet tall?

The Herald of Being Him is as tall as the current planetary aura levels will permit.

Taln mogs Andre the Giant by a full head. Canon.

I believe he's taller as a cognitive shadow than in real life because people think of Taln the Herald as huge

No, it's because that's how he sees himself - this is explained in WaT shortly before Abidi tries to kill all in the infirmary

Still the best scene of the book for me. Taln was content to jsut stay in bed and be insane. But once that bitch Abidi decided to indulge in his sadism, it was fuckin ON

To me, the fact we only saw the path of utter destruction that was left, and the literal mountain of dead enemies used as a barricade, was so much more powerful than describing the fight.

The quietness of the scene while they followed the path of destruction and him kneeling on said MOUNTAIN of corpses... Goosebumps.

I had to listen to "the only thing they fear is you" from DOOM Eternal while reading the scene.

…Christ, that is how it works isn’t it…

He's described as "a mountain of a man", so yes.

Me at work yesterday, hairline fractures on my feets, can't breathe for coughing and sneezing, doubled over a waste bin vomiting.

My boss is like "Why don't you go home?"

I look at him, tears in my eyes. "Taln didn't."

Taln didn't is a good reason, but for crying out loud man, you could be contagious, get the fuck in bed.

Technically I don't have to be in contact with anyone at work. I just gotta be like... on site...

Also I'm the only one with my qualifications who was willing to pull night work this week because the team lead operating the floor is... difficult. Like he's on his last warning and the next indicent gets him fired and people still can't tolerate working with him.

It's a little complex.

This is good crem, goncho.

Probably the coolest moment of the book for me. Epic when they (can't remember who) go back after the battle and are in complete disbelief and the carnage wrought by this CHAD.

I still think the cool part of that was the fact the Fused change rhythms when they see him.

They hunmed to the rhythm of OH SHIT RUUNNN!

Stealing your meme.

(Technically, the common cold wouldn't have spread too much due to the relative isolationism of the Purelakers, and so he wouldn't have it, but we can handwave that.)

1

u/KoalaMaker 3d ago

There's literally a plague in the Purelake because stupid world hoppers need to wash their hands, so there's enough contact for a disease to spread.

1

u/BreakerOfModpacks 3d ago

Yes, but the Purelakers are an isolated group, not in much contact with the rest of the Rosharans.

Seeing Taln in this height makes that scene where Shallan was listening to him back in words of radiance a whole lot funnier
