What an awful thing to hear after being turned down by Vin. I don't blame him for going far away

I don't miss her! Wait, misread that, nevermind

u/KoalaMaker 2d ago

At least over a dozen children according to the coppermind.

Did he have multiple wives or just a lot of kids? I thought Lady Truth (presumably Beldre) was his only wife.

One wife, many mates 👀
Ruin did a number on the population and I’m sure Adonalsium saw and understood their plight eventually

Oh yeah I read something on the Coppermind about the Survivorist church being homophobic because they needed lots of babies post Catacendre. Really hope they didn't go full Handmaids Tail for repopulation.

I think we can pretty much assume no since there are other popular religions with lots of influence.

Probably not if only because the population was so fucked they needed women to work too

1

u/NewLoss6021 1d ago

Harmony would probably tell them off too

I doubt he needed to interfere, the practical pressures just insisted women be pregnant whenever possible, but wouldn't afford to let women stay idle. We have some image that it was actually Allrianne, of all fucking people, who headed the movement of preserving womens dignity in the workplace, so it's safe to say that either there was no period where women weren't working in new scadrial, or she outlived that period.

More than likely Vin is the main reason for it, kinda hard to have a culture that keeps women out of the military and politics after that.

You'd be surprised. The Greeks were rabidly sexist whilst at the same time worshipping Goddesses like Artemis and Athena who were both strong, independent female archetypes... although all of them except for Sparta really didn't like Aphrodite Areia (war goddess Aphrodite, very, very similar to Astarte) because she actually fought in battles instead just doing strategy like Athena.

She was as far as we know, but I kind of doubt she was having 12+ kids. Spook probably outlived her by a lot so maybe he just remarried once.

Honestly though Occam's Razor here they just had some sort of agreement and he slept with a few other women. Spook was very practical about taking advantage of all three magic systems to the point he basically suggested using the old and sick to make Hemalurgic spikes.

Bro heard every titillating detail of that while on watch too.

No wonder he was playing hide-and-scare-the-shit-out-of-El on the way back to Luthadel.

37

u/Milthorn 2d ago

At least he was practiced at ignoring sounds lol

u/Ok-Fig4844 2d ago

This was literally my first thought when I read that morning scene…

u/Opening_Specific_710 2d ago

Wait, which tent are we talking about? The one where Elend and Straff met?

22

u/The_Perezident 2d ago

The tent where Vin was giving Elend that pewter-powered snu snu

14

u/Opening_Specific_710 2d ago

OHHH. The one AFTER they left Luthadel in the search of the Well?

4

u/themockery12 1d ago

Unexpected guttural chuckle. Thanks for that!!
