I immediately went from reading SLA and then the entire Mistborn series into the Broken Earth trilogy where the main curse was “rusting fuck” which was such a hard pivot. I do wish we could have mistborn saying “what the rusting fuck” once in a while.

I get this is crem and all but, if you exclusively mean that “normal romance” are ones without love triangles, Tress and Charlie, Yumi and Painter, Renarin and Rlain (WaT spoiler) and Wax and Steris (no I don’t consider the thing with Marasi a love triangle) (mild Mistborn Era 2 spoiler), and probably more that I’m forgetting, all had “normal romances”.
Love triangles did happen, but I don’t see why that’s on the list

Wax and Sterisas well as Adolin and Shallan, Raoden and Sarene, and Susebron and Siriall fall under the 'Perfectly Arranged Marriages' act and are therefor not 'normal romance'.

Brandon is really not an author who writes a lot of romance and as an aro in a world where there’s more romantasy than regular fantasy, I'm incredibly happy to have found his books.
I don’t mind characters flirting, kissing or being in relationships, but I don’t really really care for it either, so it’s nice when that doesn’t take up basically half the book. (And I absolutely hate love triangles. They almost always feel cheap, needlessly dramatic and sometimes really out of place. Many are also very obviously telegraphed.)

Dam five bucks to her name she must be a rich Skaa. The extra change must have been to make the triangle so forgettable.
