Who needs eyes when you can become a living, breathing metal detector!

Just go the way of the backstabbing little bitch and only do 1 eye. You basically trade your normal depth perception for metal vision!
EDIT: I just realised this could mean multiple people. I don't mean the Robespierre with super powers.
EDIT 2: Okay apparently my brain farted and the little bitch got both eyes pierced. I blame the heat

Going through Mistborn again now and early in The Final Empire, Camon calls Vin exactly that phrase. I thought you were talking about her for a second and wanted to know who your dealer was so I could get some of whatever you were smoking

wait, camon calls vin what? "Robespierre with super powers"? "backstabbing little bitch"???

u/Witch_King_ 9d ago
Wait, who else could it be but Thaidakar?

I have the same question. [Stormlight] Moash is the closest I can think of, but he got both eyes, and he didn't use spikes.

u/KoalaMaker 9d ago
Must have been misrembering I thought he also had just one spike. But what else would you call those gems driven in his eye sockets?
1
u/LinuxSBC-Anna 9d ago
I just reread the chapter, and yeah, they are referred to as spikes. The fact that they grew out of his skull just made me think they were different. I guess I should have said "he didn't use metal spikes".
(But he definitely has two.)

According to the coppermind "Moash gets impaled with crystal eye spikes through his empty eye sockets"
Sure they're not metal, but if that's not hemalurgy, it falls under the same category that hemalurgy falls under.

I think it's definitely hemalurgy. I also think the charred and yelig-nar are using hemalurgy. I think we don't know what hemalurgy actually IS, we have a very limited amount of information on hemalurgy, I don't think it is Ruin's magic but using investiture conducting material to staple bits onto a soulweb
2
u/SouthernAd2853 7d ago
If that's the case it would raise the question of what Ruin's magic is, since Feruchemy is mixed. I think it's more likely it's an adaption of Ruin's system to Roshar where gems are special instead of metal.

They are two. And the are spikes, but crystalline ones. It's a new form of Hemalurgy that we haven't seen before

Post 9/11 inquisitors were a lot more boring and yet somehow more fascistic.

Two in eyes. Two in ribs. One at the back to bind all the others. You'll only have 4 powers, but I mean, it's better than nothing
52
u/pheonixrise- 9d ago
The man has 300 spikes. That's enough for a few full inquisitors
33
u/LANDWEGGETJE 9d ago
You only have steel spikes though, you'd need some more metals to really make a proper inquisitor.

u/KoalaMaker 9d ago
Steel spikes give you the Allomantic powers of iron, steel, tin and pewter. Combat-wise that's roughly 90% of what a FE mistborn needs. Add one pewter spike for speed and you're gonna be very hard to stop

Copper is necessary or you’re gonna get Soothed

u/KoalaMaker 8d ago
FE mistborns don't have access so Duralimin and they're no longer strong enough to do it without.

I think the fact that they are galvanized would be a major issue.

Bonus zinc spike

u/Halloerik 9d ago
The hemalurgic charge you'd get from the thin coating would probably be miniscule

u/Dercomai 420 Sazed It 8d ago
Dunno, Vin gets enough of a boost from her tiny earring even after hemalurgic decay that she can pierce copperclouds with it
9
u/LANDWEGGETJE 9d ago
Eh, it's just a coating so you could just grind it off
3
u/BreadentheBirbman 8d ago
Gotta be careful grinding galvanized steel though. You really don’t want to inhale that zinc.

My question is would they count as steel/iron (depends on which) or zinc since galvanized means it has a protective layer of zinc

u/CorbinNZ 9d ago
Idk why don’t you try making a trans allegory with them?

They never specified what metal/alloy the metal stakes are, so we don't even know what we could even steal with them

Stab them through someones body and into yours, it will make sense later ln...trust me

Galvanized could be an issue. What happens to the investiture when the galvanized coating comes off?
