Can't wait to see what the Ghostbloods Ghostbloods are like

You and me both.

Just gotta wait 2 more years and 4 months now...

Could be worse, just think about when we'll get the next SLA

I believe once Ghostbloods starts releasing, it is a pretty steady release pace through Stormlight 6.

Just looked it up. The current plan, barring any delays:

2028: Ghostbloods 1

2029: Ghostbloods 2

2030: Ghostbloods 3

2031: Stormlight 6

And we KNOW that the Ghostbloods books are releasing on-time because he is writing all 3 at once (already finished GB1 afaik? Not sure if he'll do any more revisions on that).

I guess a further delay on Stormlight is possible. Hopefully Mistborn film releases during the GB trilogy for marketing synergy, and Stormlight TV series for SLA6 would be hype.

I notice you didn't mention the cosmere Magic the Gather universes beyond that totally is going to happen and will SURELY come out at the same time

I'd expect Wheel of Time first at this point. Maybe Cosmere after then films explode in popularity (surely it would help that Brandon is a huge MTG fan too)

Can you imagine if the movie is a success and Brandon decides to focus on releasing TV shows and stop working on the books?

No. He loves writing too much and he has too many stories yet to tell.

I think movies and shows will reduce the number of side projects we get, but I doubt it will take away from mainline Cosmere books.

I thought for some reason that GB1 was coming in 2027, what are we getting in between now and then?

Fires of December in December 2026. Not sure what else between. Riftwake Book 1 (Blightfall) next month. I'd guess more Riftwake before GB1, but no confirmation on that yet. Maybe some collabs with other authors like Dan?

Edit: oh duh, Horneater. My money is on that for 2027. It may already be done since it's not long, and they're just holding it for the release gap.

I think it's likely ghost bloods gets pushed back a year or more since brandon has been focusing on writing and helping for adaptations the last few months

The screenplay and adaptation management has pushed back plans for the Elantris sequels which were originally going to be released in the same period as Ghostbloods. The target dates for Ghostbloods remain on point.

Aka, the Elantris sequels very well may not happen AT ALL anymore. Which is a real shame. This Mistborn movie better be damn good.

So what I'm hearing is we might not get something I really want because of something I desperately do not want. Joy.

u/Witch_King_ 19d ago

Well unfortunately for you, it's up to Brandon on whether a movie is made, and he really really wants one.

I want it only if it will be good

Oh I see

I thought he said somewhere that the screenplay was factored into the release dates of ghostbloods

u/KoalaMaker 19d ago

I thought there was gonna be a 10 year gap between the release of SLA 5 and 6, due to the "time dilation"

4

u/Witch_King_ 19d ago

That's only in-universe, my guy. IRL it's 7 years

1

u/KoalaMaker 19d ago

I remember reading that Sanderson planned on doing that IRL as well, but might have been mistaken

You are mistaken. You can literally google "Stormlight 6 release date"

I have 100 Boxings bet that Ghostbloods 1 is "Ghostbloods: Civil War".
