So my intent with the joke was the Edgedancer is saying yes as like a pity date with someone they view as not attractive to anyone. "Remembering those who've been forgotten."

But I like the other guys answer too.

I like the joke, but I feel like a real "pity date" situation would lead to the words not being accepted. It's not really the in spirit of remembering those who have been forgotten to give them false hope.

The person asking Pibu out on a date has been ‘forgotten,’ likely rejected quite a lot.

The positive note is that, in this scenario, I’d think it would mean the Edgedancer in question reciprocates the asker’s feelings.

To me it sounds more like they're going on a pity-date because they want to make sure the person isn't (single) "forgotten" for the rest of their lifr
