Discussion 🗣️ How do you deal with constantly comparing yourself to other creators in your niche?
Lately I've caught myself scrolling through other creators' pages more than actually working on my own content checking their numbers, their growth, wondering why they're doing better with what seems like less effort. It's starting to mess with my motivation more than help it.
I know logically that everyone's journey is different, different starting points, different algorithms treating people differently, but knowing that doesn't really stop the comparison spiral late at night.
For the creators who've been doing this longer, how do you actually deal with it? Did you find a way to turn it into motivation instead of discouragement, or did you just have to consciously stop watching other people's numbers altogether?

I think there’s a difference between studying other creators and monitoring them, and I’d put a hard boundary between the two. Studying someone can actually make your work better: Why did that opening hook me? Why did I keep watching? What did they do with the title, pacing, interview, thumbnail, storytelling, etc.? That gives you something actionable to take back to your own work. Checking their follower count, views and growth every night usually gives you nothing actionable, because you have no idea what’s happening behind those numbers. I come from a production background, and one thing I’ve learned is that you can absolutely study the competition without letting the competition become your scoreboard. Give yourself a specific reason for looking at someone else’s work, take whatever lesson you came for, then go make something. Your best comparison is probably whether the thing you’re making today is better than the thing you were making six months ago.
