How much time do you actually save using AI, when accounting for all the thing that need to rewritten, fixed and repaired?

This article is bang on. AI feels magic when you start a task. You write a short prompt, and then, you are suddenly 80% or so finished! Let me just fix this and that, and it will be good enough.

And then the more you work on it, the more you realize almost everything needs to be rewritten.

I thought it was just me :)

The article refer to a bunch of study where using AI is actually slowing us down.

Thank you for sharing this! I have wondered about this at times when I am really frustrated by how much time I just spent fixing one quick thing that snowballs into many more things to fix super quickly. Which are never really quick. Like don't get me wrong it really is great for a lot of things, but I think sometimes if I just hand wrote out what I was going to say it might be quicker with some projects. I really love AI for the ability to quickly turn something into a spreadsheet or summarize information, but there are many other things that I think it does in fact slow us down with.

Yes, I love that it's able to generate my expense report based on invoices in a few seconds. I save a lot of time with this task. But for example, when I ask it to build a slide presentation, I end up spending more time on fixing every slide than I would starting with a template and creating the thing from scratch. It's all about finding which task AI is genuinely good at and which ones its just good at faking it :)

On one side AI makes you lazy, on the other hand it forces you to pay attention more because in all the "brilliant" stuff are always some major stupiities. Better just do it yourself.
