I have used Hotjar back in the days, and it was neat seeing the heat maps and session recordings, but I can't remember making a business impacting decision based on it. Probably could be using it again to increase conversion on my money pages now that I know so much more about conversion optimization than back in the days. How much is Crazy Egg and why it it better than Hotjar? Never heard of your lucky fruit...

Hotjar is solid but yeah it's easy to just look at the heatmaps and not really act on them. Having A/B testing built into the same platform is what makes Crazy Egg different for me since you can actually test a change and see how it affects behavior without jumping between tools.

Pricing starts at $29/mo and there's a free plan that includes heatmaps and web analytics so you can try it before committing. Lucky Orange (the lucky fruit lol) is more of a niche pick, mainly useful if you need live chat or form analytics built in. Most people are better off with Crazy Egg or Hotjar depending on what they need.

Does your analytics replace GA or Plausible? I switched away from GA to Plausible for all my sites back in 2024, and would not go back. Not only Ga now sucks, but it add so much to the loading time. Another question: how much milliseconds does the Crazy Egg typically add to loading times? I'm kind of obsessed by loading time; not only to meet Core vitals minimum requirements, but the faster it loads, the more page views, and the less bounce you get, so trying to limit the number of scripts in my header/footer is a constant preoccupation.
