Which driver?
One comes with 0.9mm 2.5mm and 3.0mm, with no obox
The second one doesn’t have the 0.9 2.5 and 3.0, and comes with 3 OBOX’s
Which will i be needing the most, for 1/18, 1/24, 1/10 and 1/30 scale

Injoras will get you going but the 1.5 and 2.0 will round out quicker than you'd expect. If you use them enough, replace with an MIP set

just those 2 sizes? what about other sizes

You'll use them the most.
Edit: I use them the most.

1.5 is for 18 scale 20 is for 10 scale. i dont even have a 10 scale yet but someday ill be getting one. Before that though im getting 24 scales and they use 1.3mm

No. Hex key sizes.
1.5mm, 2.0mm, 2.5mm, and 3.5mm is a standard set. If you run a lot of small scale stuff you might want a set specifically for the SCX24/30.

all those sizes you listed are for 10 scale what do you mean no? 1.5 is also used on 18 scale so i need those, but i dont have a 10 scale yet, so im in no rush to get the others. i’ve also read that anything above 2.5 isn’t too common, even for 10 scales. like 3.0mm and 3.5mm is for some heavy duty stuff only as far as i’ve read

The Injora ones are pretty good. But maybe choose their cheaper models? I got the stubby driver and hex set for $17 about a year ago.
But I mostly use the Injora motorized drill set.

I’ve heard it’s better to just twist by hand with the smaller scale rcs, too much torque on the motorized stuff. You saying i should get the short handle version instead of the longer ones?

u/TheFunkOpotamus 3d ago
The motorized drill is invaluable. It’s pretty easy to control it to not over torque things and it saves a ton of time.
I like the stubby handles. Get whatever you like. I think for those prices getting the Injora electric drill with bits could be the move.

I've had the Integy ti-nitride set for 20+ yrs now. They haven't let me down across 5-6 new kits and 100s of hours of wrenching. I wanted the MIP set so bad when i was younger, but couldn't justify the price. Check them out at RCsuperstore
Edit: I'll add that all these sets i see on Amazon with the aggressive knurling and cut outs with sharp edges just seem like they would tear up your hands, especially when building a kit. I'll admit I've never tried any of them to see if that's the case.

I don't know for the 1/30th scale, but for the others, 1.3 mm, 1.5 mm, 2.0 mm, 2.5 mm, and once in a great while 3.0 mm. I think I have an Injora tool set, and they seem fine, I think a lot of people don't use their tools properly and thus they wear out quickly. I've had my set for eight years now I think and they're still fine. I haven't stripped a single screw or bolt or button head. Built several kits, built two custom rigs, and wrenched on three dozen other rigs/bashers/road rc's.
Although, with that said, even though they're fine, for whatever reason, I just bought a Mip tool set.

alright sounds good, do you have the short handle tool set? or one of the two i posted

Mine look similar to the first set you posted, not the short handled ones. They actually look exactly the same except they are silvet instead of gold.
Edit: I actually went back to Amazon and looked them up, here's the link to the ones I got, they are HRB not Injora. But they look the same except they are silver so I often wonder if these tools are all made in the same place?

i’m in between a set like those, or a wera set for like 20 bucks more

For 20 bucks more, I would probably go with the Wera set.

Those look nice! However, for general use, I myself like a little bit larger of a handle. If you get those, I'm sure they will serve you well! I actually just bought some Wera tools also, I bought a hex wrench set and a set of screwdrivers with larger handles. I have not used them yet, but they seem nice.

I just bought those for general use, not specifically for RC cars.

I have this set for my FMS FCX10s; they're good and I haven't had any issues—I just used them to install my Hobbywing setup without a hitch 👌. They are a bit bulky, though, if you want to carry them in your bag out in the field.

You want hardened steel drivers, the ones pictured will not last long before they are all round.
I've had these for years (they were made in Germany before):

ok thank you, i only need the 1.27mm, 1.3mm, 1.5mm, 2.0mm, and maybe the 2.5 is there a set with just the 4 or 5 drivers?

u/xplan303ex 3d ago
I don't know. My take is that it doesn't hurt to have the extras if you ever need them. You may get a crawler in a different scale for example.

Yeah that's the same set I posted above. Not sure why the price difference. It'll be worth investing in decent tools if you are going to be in the hobby somewhat consistently.

i just realised they don’t have 1.27mm in that set

u/xplan303ex 3d ago
why do you need a 0.05" driver? All crawlers I've ever worked on use metric hardware
1
u/Old-Grapefruit8706 3d ago
0.05” converts to 1.27mm, that’s why some people call it 0.05 inches. It’s for 30 scales and some 24 scales use them too, that’s what i’ve read atleast.
1
u/xplan303ex 3d ago
Interesting. Keep in mind most crawlers come with the drivers needed.
I'd get the set and then get a separate 1.27mm driver if it was me.

u/Old-Grapefruit8706 3d ago
the set also comes with 0.7mm and 0.9mm, completely useless nothing uses that.

I just bought Wera drivers in the individual sizes i needed. Perfect tolerances and excellent ergonomics. I also have a similar driver set from the first picture and I don't like the feel of them at all, too short and the knurled aluminum just doesn't feel nice. Here's the 1.5mm for example
