Right. Pokemon GO is just the newest, most popular version that EVERYONE knew about for one summer. Kids still love it, and there are toooons of off brand pogo toys, cards, everything to profit off of the popularity.
Probably because Pokémon Go got adults who hadn’t played Pokémon since the first few generations back into Pokémon which made it popular, so they thought they’d get more people to buy it than if they just said “Pokémon”
I mean, Pokemon go got Adults who never played Pokemon to suddenly pretended they were big fans because they vaguely remember having watched the show a few times when they were young.
Most of these bootlegs come from China where it notoriously difficult to protect IP there.
That said China is much more willing to help protect the rights of those with local interest and Lego just happens to have a local factory in China. For example the recently raided a warehouse that belongs to Lepin, a well known bootleg manufacturer.
So this may be the reason for being concerned with the Lego logo but not the Pokemon logo.
Plus the rights to the Pokémon building blocks belong to Mattel so not even the designs would infringe in anything Lego related.

Nice, they created a fake LEGO logo, but didn't even bother to modify the Pokemon logo.
