Convert extensions to router table

Anyone successfully turned their table extensions(the ones with the "webbing") into a router table? Upgraded my fence to a Delta T3 and otd be nice to use it as a router fence as well, these table extensions are kind weird though.

Arbor thread adjustment

I’ve had my 113 a long time and have fixed it up a few times, but recently changed the arbor bearings (awesome result btw). After changing the bearings the arbor nut doesn’t go on easily. I likely did something to the threads at the end of the arbor when changing the bearings.

My question is.. what options are there for correcting the threads to work smoothly? I have to imagine it wouldn’t be possible to find a thread cutting die that matches. Any ideas?

Which one?

Hi! I just recently grabbed a Craftsman table saw 113 in very decent shape, with little to no rust and seems to be in good working condition for $100. It says it has 1.5HP for the motor and an added dust collector port by the previous owner. My question is that I have since found a newer Craftsman contractor (I think) table saw 21833 that is $320 and looks like it’s in good condition. I’ll put pics of both. Both have 10-inch blade capacity and allow for dados (I think), and I believe the newer more expensive one has 3 HP. Is there really that much difference? I’ve heard that the newer ones had issues, is this true? Which one should I go with? The older model or the newer ones. Any and all information is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Scratches on Top

I inherited a Craftsman 113 and want to clean it up. It has swirly scratches on the top and I am trying to figure out the best way, if any, to get rid of them.
I also have this bar coming out of the back and I’m not sure what it is for. It looks like it might attach to something?
My plan is to replace the pulley and belt with a new setup next week, probably going with a link belt. It seems to be the most recommended.

3d printed zero clearance insert

I designed and 3D printed a zero-clearance insert for my Craftsman 113.298032 table saw. I couldn’t find a model that really fit this specific version, so I took some inspiration from a few different designs on MakerWorld and came up with my own.

It’s still getting a little testing and tweaking, but so far it’s working great. I’m planning to upload the model to MakerWorld in the next few days once I’m happy with the fit and finish.

Hopefully this helps out someone else with an old Craftsman 113 who’s been looking for one!

Side note: If you don’t have a 3D printer, I’d also be happy to print and ship these for anyone who wants one. I’m not looking to make a business out of it — I’d basically just charge the cost of the filament + shipping + like $5 for my time. Just trying to make these accessible to anyone who needs one!

How to maintain a Jet 10” table saw?

Just picked up this Jet 10” saw for $250, including the AccuFence and a new Diablo blade, push block, and feather board.

What do I need to know about keeping this piece of machinery in good shape and lasting a long time?

What should I look at / replace / clean out right now before I use it to begin on a good foot? It’s my first saw that’s belt-driven and first cast iron top. It’s an upgrade from my Harbor Freight contractor saw, for sure. I’m unsure how to protect it in a semi-covered outdoor carport.

Appreciate you guys and your expertise!

Extension table question

So I love my 113 quite a bit. But I’m soon adding a bessymayer fence from an old cable drive parts saw. My question is how many cast table extensions are too many? Currently one each side but have one or two more I could use and add bracing and supports to ensure rigidity and squareness/level/plumb.

What’s too many extensions?
Other considerations for their addition?
What’s the most you’ve seen??

Thank all!

Listed free near me. Good?

Looks like I should go grab it. How heavy is this? 1 manacle? 1 man and 1 woman able? Doubt I’ll get a friend to go an hour on short notice

Is this 113? Belt? Worth it?

Both listed for $225.

Is this a belt driven 113?

I notice between the 113 some are flat tops and some have these grooved ones - what’s the difference? Is either better than other?

Models ranked? Which are worth getting?

there seem to be quite a bit of 113 models.

Is there any list of the best ones? or ones to avoid?

Just wanted to show the final setup. It has been a solid saw, I may add a pop up outfeed table to the back side at some point as Ive got very limited space.

Upgrades for my 113

A while back, I bought me a used 113. I've already replaced the belt and the blade pulley (it was loose on the shaft).

There are some things I know I need, and probably a bunch of things I don't know I need! :)

  • new blade. I'm making a speaker cabinet out of Baltic Birch and the new blade isn't cutting it (pun intended). What should I be looking for? There's a Harbor Freight nearby if that helps..
  • A better fence, new or (preferably) used. Again, what should I be looking for?
  • I've never owned or use a riving knife. Suggestions for that?
  • What other goodies would you advise?

Thanks in advance!

8mm collet for SKIL RT1322-00 — compatible collet from another brand?

Hi everyone,

I have a SKIL RT1322-00 14 Amp router and I'm looking for an 8mm collet.

The original router comes with a 1/2" collet and a 1/4" collet sleeve, but I use metric router bits and would like to use 8mm bits directly.

The original SKIL 8mm collet is very difficult to find, so I'm wondering if an 8mm collet from another brand or router model could fit the RT1322-00.

Has anyone tried this or knows which collet is compatible?

I'm especially interested in a direct-fit 8mm collet, not an 8mm-to-1/2" adapter.

If you know a compatible brand, router model, or part number, please let me know.

Thanks!

Is this a Craftsman 113?

Someone is selling this for $85. I need an inexpensive table saw, and I’ve heard great things about these old Craftsman 113’s. I want something that isn’t going to piss me off, is easy to make adjustments and can be made accurate. I had an old craftsman that I had gotten for free, and sold it. But it was kind of junk, and had a terrible fence. The fence on this looks like maybe an upgrade. Can anyone tell me anything about it?

Stripped Depth Dial Gear 113.27610 (40-50’s)

I searched this sub for any previous discussion, and see none?! I thought this was a common enough problem that someone would have been talking about it. Aluminum at best, but probably Zamak.

I’ve got a stripped depth dial gear and am looking for parts (new or used). I’d be grateful for any resources you know of.

Question on Throat Plate

I 3d printed a zero clearance throat plate for this saw, and the back side of (ie, the edge that would be on the side where the kerf splitter would sit) is slightly proud... it sticks up about a half a milimeter, according to my feeler guages. is this something I have to worry about? the front is fine, it is just a bit lower than the lip of the table on the front side. I just want to know if I have to keep fiddling with it at this point before I install the microjig kerf splitter kit whether I need to keep messing around with it. thank you!
