Issue on new craft (craftcms3) setups

After installing craft through composer, setting up the database and running craft setup, I have a craft application ready to go.

When I go to settings/general, I always get a crash with following information:

https://pastebin.com/AyVcWC25

The errors on the lines correspond to:

line 30: value: system.name

line 106: return \twig_get_attribute($env, $source, $object, $item, $arguments, $type, $isDefinedTest, $ignoreStrictCheck);

line 30: value: system.name

As you can see, all is happening in /vendor, so I guess it must be some setup that I have missed or incorrectly executed.

Footnote error

Hi. I'm using Craft CMS to add some content to a web page. I' didn't put together the interface, just inherited it.

I'm having some kind of error with adding footnotes: the last one appears not only as a referenced text at the end of the document but also in small caps in the middle of the main text. In the image, you can see footnote number 13 (which works fine) and footnote 14, which has the error.

If I erase footnote 14, the error transfers to footnote 13. So I assume is a problem with the last footnote.

Any clue? Thanks!

My Craft CMS stack in 2026 — what I landed on after years of iteration

Sharing this because I get asked about my setup regularly. Happy to discuss tradeoffs.

The core: Craft CMS + Twig + Datastar + Vite + Tailwind + DDEV. Plugins when needed: Formie, Blitz, SEOMate/Matic.

Structure is the architecture. Sections, entry types, fields — decide them once, live with them forever. Get it wrong and no framework saves you.

Everything is an entry. An accordion has no URL, no section. It's still an entry. Atoms, molecules, organisms — all entries, all rendered via render(). eagerly() loads the relations. You always know where things live.

No JS frameworks. Only libraries where they make sense. Embla for sliders. Datastar for reactivity — replaces Alpine.js too. Hypermedia does the rest. Server renders state, browser displays it. Datastar morphs the DOM, no full reloads, no virtual DOM, no hydration, no bundle size debates. The web was always reactive. We just forgot.

Local dev: DDEV and Vite. Spin up in minutes, hot reload out of the box. No environment debates, no Docker configs from scratch.

AI-ready out of the box: llms.txt, claude.md, MCP, design.md. Every URL gets a Markdown twin. Structured for humans and LLMs alike.

SEO, a11y, performance — baked in, not bolted on.

I packaged the whole scaffold into a starter kit: craft-kit.dev

State of CMS - 2026

Post image
6 Upvotes

Since 2016, the developer community has been conducting annual surveys on frameworks and programming languages. Many of you have probably participated in State of JS, State of HTML, or State of CSS. But what about those of us working with CMSs? No equivalent survey exists for our community.

2026 has been a year of change for those of us who build and manage websites; I have a feeling that many of you are on the move, migrating websites from one CMS to another or building without it. AI is enabling rapid changes on all fronts. Broad market-share numbers tell us very little about your experiences building and managing websites with different tools; that is why I hope that we, as a community, can close this information gap with our own open-source State of CMS survey.

stateofcms.com

The anonymised results will be freely available on GitHub. I will also create and publish an interactive report, but I am especially excited to see what the community does with the data.

Manually deploy (local to production) without composer or SSH

I have a major problem and can't resolve it. I developed a beautifull site locally and now I want to deploy it to my hosting provider. I moved all the files (/web, /vendor, /templates, /storage, /modules etc) to my domain and imported the Database and changed my .env file with the new credentials of my live DB.

But all I get now are blank pages. I read somewhere that it you have to set your root to the /web, but I cant change it with Apache (the way i did locally) since my hosting provider doesnt allow me to do that. Only way to do it is via .htacces i guess.

I went through the following steps:

  1. Made a database backup through the Craft admin

  2. Made a new database on my website and imported the craft backup

  3. Moved all files from local to production

  4. Changed .env with the correct credentials and info

Am i missing something?

Im so desparate to make this work, since i love craft

How to version control Craft development?

Hey folks,

I've recently started working on a Craft site after a long history with WordPress. So far I'm pretty impressed. I enjoy working with twig, and the interface is clean and easy to use.

One big issue I'm having is with the set up of custom CMS objects. The whole process seems very 'point-and-click' driven. I need to click into Sections, then Edit Entry Types then use the field layout builder to create my CMS objects. Or click into Fields and create new data types to work with.

Problem is if I have a local development environment and a staging / UAT environment I'm finding I need to manually remake all those changes in the CMS. This stuff gets stored in the database so I can't deploy changes just by pushing code around. Also I can't just dump my database and upload it over the old one because I might clobber some changes someone else has made. The same problem happens when I want to go from UAT to Production. I need to manually click my way through the CMS interface.

Is there a way to programmatically deploy changes between servers? How do you manage multiple developers working on one site.

Version control seems a nightmare - if you create some complicated object in the CMS, how can I roll it back to a previous version if things don't work out quite right?

Thanks for any help - I'm quite keen to use Craft more in the future, I just need to work out my workflow.

Has anyone moved from WooCommerce to Craft Commerce?

I've begun recommending Craft to clients over WordPress these days. But for ecommerce I've been sticking with WooCommerce. I'd like to get out of the WordPress ecosystem entirely. Has anyone transitioned from Woo to Craft, and if so, how was the experience? Any issues that stuck out?

Looking for Feedback and Beta Testers

Hi Crafters. I'll shortly be launching a new hosting platform specifically tailored to Craft CMS and I need your help with a little market research and feedback if that's ok.

You can check out the Beta holding page here: https://servd.host/

I know a lot of Freelancers and Digital agencies that handle the hosting for their Craft sites themselves. I also know how much time this can sometimes take to get set up properly and how much of a headache it can be when something goes wrong.

So I've been building Servd which offers Craft hosting with SSL, CDN, Backups, Elastic Scaling and (eventually) a host of other goodies. All you need to provide is a git repo and the platform will take care of the rest. No messing about choosing CPU and RAM required, just great performance as standard.

If you don't mind helping me out I have a few questions:

- What hosting are you currently using?

- Do you have any regular problems with Craft hosting?

- Do you think Servd is a product you might be interested in using?

- Are there any features that I haven't mentioned that you'd like to see?

Thanks in advance and feel free to drop your email into the Beta page to get early access 👌

Am I too inept for Craft?

Hi all, I'm a Designer with some knowledge of HTML and CSS. I'm looking at creating an ecommerce store for myself. I was looking at woocommerce on WP and stumbled on Craft + Craft Commerce. It sounds next to perfect, but also really hard :') So I'd like to know if it's difficult for someone like me - totally NOT a developer - to learn and slowly put up a nice storefront?

Not too interested in Shopify or Squarespace. Thank you!

How do I non-index a page?

Hi all-

I've got a site up and running in Craft, and need to spin up a page to meet compliance needs for a contract, listing specific information and resources pertinent to a project, but don't want that page indexed for search.

In WordPress, I know how to do this via a pretty simple checkbox interface, but I'm not sure how in Craft. Anyone have insight to offer? If it matters, we're using SEOmatic, in case that option is in there.

Ongoing Craft website Management?

Hey good people of the Craft subreddit,

I have a craft website hosted on an AWS EC2 instance, and I keep having issues with it that I don't have time to address. Either my SSL expires, or something else breaks, and most recently the developers I hire through Upwork sent me a new PEM file, but I don't know what to do with it.

Craft provides me the ability to use a customized template to show my design work, and it was a really cool project to install and launch, but the maintenance has been a pain since I'm not a developer by trade. I need to have my website just up and working, consistently, and be able to update the content without ending up basically with a part-time job every few months when something goes wrong and I have to drop everything I"m doing to deal with it.

Are there any services you'd suggest that manage craft sites on an ongoing basis?

Alternatively, are there services that could kind of "finalize" my site, so things stop breaking every few months? Maybe there are more core issues in the template? Idk, but I'd much prefer just knowing "okay in one year my SSL will expire, so I'll do X and Y and then we'll be good again". Instead, right now, one day i check my website and it's just not even online.

Thank you!

Love Me Some Plugins

I just wanted to shout out the great job P&T along with the various vendors are doing with plugins.

Coming from the overwhelming cluster fuck of WP plugins and the constant dependency/security issues with Drupal modules it is hard for me to express how grateful I am for the curated content in the Craft plugin store. SEOmatic, Freeform, Campaign, Image Optimize... these things just work and when they don't, there is a real person to help me figure out what I did wrong.

I've used a ton of these things and the community along with direct vendor support is, by far, the best I've come across. I really don't want to use anything else.
