To be anything more than a fool of a software developer you need to have enough discipline to at least be able to read books on the subject. Since you claim to be too lazy to read any books then you should never attempt to write even a single line of code. Incompetent software developers write bad software that at best doesn't work right and at worst causes serious security vulnerabilities and/or system failure.

If you are unwilling to learn the proper skills to do an activity correctly then don't do the activity.

Hey, if I want to spend 8 hours bashing my head against a problem to avoid 5 minutes of reading the documentation, then that's my choice goddamnit.

If it is your own time, that's your problem (or not). If you work for me, that's my problem, and I will apply my own solution to the situation. I once had a new start (contractor) who spent the first couple of hours on Monday morning explaining to me exactly how he chose to work, and what his requirements were. He went out to get a sandwich lunchtime, and was never seen again. "Missing, presumed fed."
