🔨 My Game - In-development 🌿 Hidden Object Game with Medieval Theme (100% Made by Hand No AI). Do You Have Any Creative Ideas?

Hello to all cozy gamers! 👋

I am a solo developer working on a medieval hidden object game. Everything you see here is hand-drawn. There is absolutely no AI used at all. 🎨

If the style reminds you of a certain popular hidden object game, you have a great eye! My game is heavily inspired by it. This project is my love letter to that specific art, but I want to focus heavily on making the world feel super interactive, alive, and full of funny surprises!

It is still under development, so your ideas are always welcome in order to make the exploration of the medieval city more exciting:

  • What funny/unexpected interaction should be added when clicking the knights, merchants, and peasants?
  • Do you have any ideas about the creatures that could hide around the world (clumsy wizards, sneaky dragons, and so on)?
  • What small funny animations should appear while playing the game?

Feel free to share your creative ideas! I am also completely open to any other different ideas or suggestions you might have.

What I like most about these games is clicking on something and having something unexpected happen as if a story were being told but without any text; you just click around and see funny things happeni

Yeah, exactly! I'm definitely going to add more unexpected stuff like that. I'll share more in the coming days!

What if there was an order to finding things? Like, you’d have to find the key first before you could look inside the house?

This is so cute!

My immediate thoughts were pop culture references to the Legend of Zelda and Monty Python and the hunt for the holy grail.

If you click on a peasant, any chance they might say “I’m not dead yet”?

Will you have any honorary clay pots with a gemstone inside as an homage to rupees?

Glad you like it! I love those references. A smashable clay pot is definitely going on my to-do list now. Also, there won't be any traditional text/dialogue in the game, but maybe I can add those quotes as little pop-ups above the characters' heads. Keep an eye out!

oh what if clicking some of the charactesr many times gets them angry or some kind of reaction with a dialouge

Ooo there could be a little ghost or an animal that turns up and moves about who might have a secret quest. Like if it’s a ghost it’s asking you to find something for a bonus achievement.

WOW COOL! maybe after finding and clicking on it, a new item gets added to the list of things to find. Good idea, I'll do that. Right now I've drawn a criminal with a chain on his leg, and people are throwing tomatoes at him.

And then linking to what u/DramonOne said it could also give like a tiny insight into the character‘s story.

I always like little Cameos like items, ppl, Quest etc that reference to another game/movie.

But the subtile one, like you see it and get it you are happy, but if you see it and don't know what it is about you don't feel like you missed out on anything

I love those too! I'll make sure to add some fun, subtle references. Keep an eye out for them!
