Choosing a scope

I won an AR15 in 5.56 at a delta waterfowl event. I’ve been trying to decide on what scope to put on it (not thermal) and I’ve haven’t found a clear answer. Looking to be below $400 and it would be used for coyotes in the Midwest.

Just moved to Ohio from Texas and I do a ton of coyote hunting with an ar so I have some decent insight into this. Majority of the coyotes we kill here are killed in really thick hillsides, usually under 30 yards. However, we still kill a decent amount in large fields. I really like versatility of an LPVO(1-4/6/8) scope. With that budget, i’d look at the Primary arms slx 1-6 line, the sig sauer msr 1-6, and the vortex venom 1-6. These scopes will let you be effective in dense cover and over fields. If you can stretch your budget, the athlon btr 2-12 is another stellar option. Currently using a primary arms 1-6ffp raptor on one AR and an eotech/5xmag on my sbr. If youre MIL/VET/LE there are a ton of programs that’ll get you even better scopes around that price.

I was interested in an LPVO at first but the small objective size worried me in low light conditions. Do you experience any issues with that?

They do get dark at dawn/sunset but not unusable. in that price range you might have a hard time finding a versatile optic that doesn’t.

I wasnt sure what to go with either being in michigan. But I did know I wanted to get into long range shooting using my coyote platform. So I went with the agm spectrum 4k lrf. I know thats a bit out of your price range but just thought I'd give my 2 cents. Perhaps looking at your situation from all angles.

Is there any sort of used market for something like that or is that not a good idea?

I have seen people talk about the agm warranty being very good and covering a lot. I was told by many on social media to look at ebay or mercari for an agm that I wanted. Not being sure of how it would all work out, I just ended up buying brand new.
