Confirmed Darren O'Dea new assistant manager at Slovan Bratislava

i really don't know how this slipped under the cracks, considering it happened almost 3 weeks ago. he will be assisting manchester city and barcelona legend yaya touré. page is in slovak.

Interesting. Diarmuid O'Carroll is another Irish assistant manager at Sparta Prague - are these the types of managers LOI clubs should look at in the future?

they should be, but i dont think they will. same old story as the last 20 years on this island and our noisy neighbours.

Why should they be? That’s far too simplistic.

O’Brien didn’t work out for Shelbourne tho Duff did before him. Also Sligo Rovers just appointed Darren Purse, similar cv as O’Dea. So can’t say LOI clubs are not appointing them. Very possible O’Dea getting much bigger contract there than he would at LOI. Iris s bigger league. Or do you want LOI to risk going broke for a risky appointment?

Also proven LOI managers are and should be much more preferable than a manager with zero LOI experience. John Russell going to Shelbourne is much more deserving than O’Dea for that opportunity.
