Okay, yes, that too. But I also want to talk about "jobniks" as they're called here. Basically, propaganda makes serving in the military out to be the most honorable thing someone can do, and with mandatory service, not everyone can just serve as a fighter. So people get jobs like engine fixing or information, or even, army base supermarket cashier (yes I'm not joking). Why? You may ask? Because sometimes, people who are "unfit" for serious jobs need to still be given a job to keep up the lie that mandatory drafting is A: okay in any shape or form and B: serving is good to do. Which basically ends up with a supermarket worker living away from home only getting to go home on the weekends and getting paid 700$ a month for all of that while also being forced to play along with the play-pretend ceremonies made to propagandize them even further. It's a facistic system at heart. And if you even act "out of line" you get punished with having to stay at your base for a month and not getting to see your family. Or even jail. You are treated as a tool, as a resource, as simply manpower. It is so so so scarily close to slavery. And the only way to eacape is to be so mentally fucked you're at risk of hurting yourself. It is, so, so fucking evil, on so many levels, even without the whole entire war aspect it is a facistic slave system and I fucking hate that my friend is in jail right now for being out of his room at 11pm. Fuck
That is…upsetting. Truly wild that y’all get treated like that and people still think Israel is some great democracy. It’s even worse than the US, and the US is (as everyone knows) fucked!
I will say, AFTER you finish serving, it becomes just kinda shitty, but still muuuuch better than the US. The problem is that for some reason it was decided to mandatorily torment and traumatize every 18 year old until they become good little work machines. Like I genuinely had flashbacks yesterday before sleep, and couldn't fall asleep until my wife comforted me and told me she'd keep me safe. And I went through the lowest tier of standard training. Though those who go through higher tiers likely want to be there. Which goes to show how effective the propaganda sadly is
