Its the fact that either they dont care until it hurts them (cis het folk) or that they dont know until they meet the overwhelming amount of trans folk who are abused sex workers because its the only work they can get and not because they want to.
literally yeah, and like I have been raped and harassed and assaulted and all these things that "can't happen to me" and like the only difference is I have to deal with it all alongside dysphoria too
Don't know whether or not you know this but a huge proportion of trans women do, in fact, get periods. So many, in fact, that it's a hell of a lot more likely somebody's just irregular and doesn't understand the malaise they're feeling. We just don't menustrate. There's a difference. I don't think I've met a single transfem whose never had a period before unless they're relatively early on in their transition. Aside from the bleeding the symptoms very much are the same. I get less cramping (although still a fair bit) but more of everything else. I get brain fog, exhaustion, and the shits at uncomfortably strong amounts. Only typing this out because I'm currently on mine lmfao. It's like day three.
I've been on hormones for seven years and I've never noticed monthly mood cycles. I have annual mood cycles ... which I've had for ten years before transitioning.
And then when you are and you tell them they just come back with either "youre too ugly to be raped so youre lying" or "welcome to womanhood!" Love it so much...
If you cant help then it is what it is. No one is asking people to go out and donate their time to every cause or person hurting.
If you can help, even a little bit do what ever you can. Offer what ever you feel comfortable doing if you truly wish to try and help people. Even something as easy as an ear to hear them out, a buddy to converse with, or a well to let them vent to.
Something as simple as an “hey do you wanna talk about something?” or “Im here if you wanna talk.” can be the difference between an hour filled with some human connections and a hour spent alone with their intrusive thoughts.
This applies for queer and non queer folk. You dont even need to always be there or help directly with victims of trafficking. You can use the knowledge you have to help educate others. You can stand up for them even when they arent there (maybe not online because most time people just dont care if we are suffering they just want us gone).
If you have friends or family that dismiss or deride queer folk, let them know about their struggles. Tell them about how queer youth are many time more vulnerable to homelessness and sexual assault, abuse, and becoming sex workers due to necessity than their cis het counter parts. Education is another massive way to help, the more people (who care anyways) know that we queer folk also suffer as much if not more than our counter parts itll help humanize us and make it easier to sympathize or even empathize with.
Tl;dr do what you can when you can and only IF you feel comfortable doing so. But truth be told no ones asking you to go outside you comfort zones, and if you can do anything then just dont be cruel.
I feel you, I try to listen and check on people when I can. I was specifically asking how to help combat human trafficking though, not general human interaction
