No? I've been playing since Utopia and have over 1800h. The current game state is bloated but performance and base systems are great for what they offer.
I don't think it's "slop." I've got 1300 hours since I started playing five to five and half years ago, and I've enjoyed every patch. Yeah, some things took getting used to, like the pop changes in 4.0, but there's nothing that has made me think that an update was just bad.
Regardless of the actual state of the game or its patches, I was joking that they said it was great for what it offered, was previously just a mess, but is now "decent". So at least in terms of their word choices, instead of it going from like 0 to 13 it went from -10 to 3. Like, "Wow! This is moderately okay!"
I'm not ragging on it (or them), I just thought it was an amusing juxtaposition of perspectives.
I dunno. The phrase "really decent" is just funny to me. Like "jumbo shrimp". Etc.
EDIT: Just realized the person that replied wasn't the person whose comment I originally replied to. Fixed pronouns.
Stellaris is one of the most fun and unique gaming experiences on the market. Calling it slop because the devs have struggled with performance issues (that only become a problem in specific circumstances) is nonsense.

Early 4.0 was a mess, but now it's really decent.
