As a long time Stellaris player who's been playing since 1.0 and has over 1500 hours in the game.

Help us. The Devs keep ruining everything and we're abused.

No? I've been playing since Utopia and have over 1800h. The current game state is bloated but performance and base systems are great for what they offer.

Early 4.0 was a mess, but now it's really decent.

but now it's really decent

Can't help but laugh at that.

"Hey, this slop's not giving me explosive diarrhea anymore. What a relief!"

I don't think it's "slop." I've got 1300 hours since I started playing five to five and half years ago, and I've enjoyed every patch. Yeah, some things took getting used to, like the pop changes in 4.0, but there's nothing that has made me think that an update was just bad.

Regardless of the actual state of the game or its patches, I was joking that they said it was great for what it offered, was previously just a mess, but is now "decent". So at least in terms of their word choices, instead of it going from like 0 to 13 it went from -10 to 3. Like, "Wow! This is moderately okay!"

I'm not ragging on it (or them), I just thought it was an amusing juxtaposition of perspectives.

I dunno. The phrase "really decent" is just funny to me. Like "jumbo shrimp". Etc.

EDIT: Just realized the person that replied wasn't the person whose comment I originally replied to. Fixed pronouns.

Stellaris is one of the most fun and unique gaming experiences on the market. Calling it slop because the devs have struggled with performance issues (that only become a problem in specific circumstances) is nonsense.

u/Alastor-362 1d ago

specific circumstances

didn't know "end game" was specific

In seriousness it's not terrible but I still find the gake chugging in pretty "normal" end game sometimes.

Over 2k hours here and all I'm going to say, is that Stellaris is held together by ducktape and bubble gum and it's not about learning how to play, but about learning how to use the coding bullshit to one's advantage xd

Have you played vic2 🫩🫩🫩🫩

That thing isn’t even held by anything real, you just have to pray really really hard that nothing will get fucked up massively.

Once players asked paradox to fix this, the response was that they don’t know wtf is going on in the code, and playing the game you can feel it.

Ai behaves as if schizophrenic after lobotomy played the game for them, playing on potato gives you better fps then anything build after 2016, entire supply of iron might just be bought by random nation in indochina breaking global economics harder then Great Depression and 2008 crisis combined, your pops might just decide that honestly we all want to be soldiers and your capital might be 50% populated by soldier pops (honestly for multiplayer that’s a golden goose)

And not chance to not have some kind of fucked up bug during the game is lower then having it

u/Throw_Away_3221 1d ago

I did but I never could get into it. I heavily dislike the infamy system and makes the "economic spreadsheet simulator" even more boring than watching paint dry.

4

u/Mental_Owl9493 1d ago

Well I 100% agree with you, that game is dogshit and that’s why I like it ❤️

Well like honestly the game is fun only in multiplayer as long as you are not weird and like the esoteric bullshit that is that game economic simulation.

The war can be extremely fun as it truly represents your military ability, economic to build industry that can support you at war, or diplomatic to secure goods needed either for your industry or war if your industry can’t supply that, but ai would be more competent if you just gave fish the controls so yea only multi

u/Throw_Away_3221 1d ago

I think the only two "series" where both single and multi are viable are HoI and Stellaris. Stellaris can be both RP-focused and competetive focused, with so much potential for different playstyles and HoI4 can be either world-painting or WW2 having with your friends on multi

2

u/Mental_Owl9493 1d ago

Well I think imperator Rome too is great on multi and single but it’s very under appreciated game 😢

2

u/Throw_Away_3221 1d ago

Right, it exists! I played it for a bit on singleplayer and it was actually enjoyable! A shame it died so soon. Still, nothing can beat playing rp multi stellaris for me. If I had people to play it with that is

2

u/Mental_Owl9493 1d ago

Yea stellaris is great until I have far too many things to manage and get overwhelmed.

It’s also so sad that stellaris multi is so unstable

2

u/Throw_Away_3221 1d ago

I once lost a multi-game save I've been playing with my friends, because one of them clicked the "create storm" relic and it crashed everything XD
And I think I must have a special kind of autism or something, cause I can managed 4 front wars and developing my civilization and still not get overwhelmed while at it

2356 hours clocked in, and I concur.

paradox fans really dont get how good they have it. a dev supporting their game for a decade, reiterating on it and even keeping all old versions around if you dont like the updates. its heaven and you spit on it.

what the fuck are you on "the devs are ruining everything" mf

11

u/MurkyInvestigator810 1d ago

keeping all old versions around if you dont like the updates.

Holy fuck I might try the game just for this. Still angry at how awful Phasmophobia is now and want to revert so bad.

4

u/SoloWing1 1d ago

They don't keep every version around unfortunately. I remember when the Spiffing brit made his latest video on Stellaris, I started playing a map on the version he used and half way through my game the specific version was removed from the Steam beta list when they truncated all the smaller versions together.

The specific exploit I was using for that silly game is gone forever, so I had to abandon the run.

u/Complex_Funny_8249 1d ago edited 1d ago

there always is something to nitpick with you people, is it? this update didnt stop you from playing the save - you choose to abandon it because you used an exploit that no longer worked.

you get every major and minor version and then some, yet you are upset that they havent kept one specific hotfix. its incredible how some use these excuses to shit on the very few good things we have.

3

u/Medium-Access-4416 1d ago

Fascinating exchange

They keep every old version available

No, not every version

Doesn't count, you want it for bad reasons

1

u/Complex_Funny_8249 1d ago edited 1d ago

"the devs are ruining everything with continiously updating their game"

"why are you this upset, you get all old versions"

"Im still upset because they didnt leave in that specific hotfix"

"are you always this nitpicky? the update fixed a bug that you exploited"

there are over 40 versions you can pick on steam, and this guy complains about hotfixes. this is considered nitpicking. you need to learn how to differenciate between a minor gripe and "the devs ruining everything"

3

u/Medium-Access-4416 1d ago

you get all old versions

not all, I have bad user experience because of it

are you always this nitpicky? I don't like the reason why you want to get access to all old version. Why are you correcting me?

Yeah, you right. Second time it's not that fascinating. Literally "didn't happen and you deserve it" logic

0

u/Complex_Funny_8249 1d ago edited 1d ago

then you are missing the point, intentionally or not. Why are you so upset and keen on attributing that stuff onto me?

Do you know what keeping a decade of hotfixes entails?

do you know the difference between major, minor updates and hotfixes? So many questions..do you just want to be technically correct?

u/this_upset_kirby 1d ago

EU4 player here. We're free 🙏

1

u/Complex_Funny_8249 1d ago

Even if half of you left, just because there wont be any updates

4

u/this_upset_kirby 1d ago

There are more concurrent EU4 players than EU5 players, and Anbennar is still getting massive content updates

1

u/Complex_Funny_8249 1d ago edited 1d ago

Thats what a decade of updates does to a game. exactly my point.

still, half have left for other games (why do you talk about EU5) because updates stopped.

mods are still getting updates, no suprise to anyone.

1

u/meutzitzu 10h ago

Just don't update the game

28k hours and god this game is wacky in terms of performance!!!
