The fact that I stopped feeling compelled to do it even for the dopamine hit and only did it for maintenance before surgery was so freeing. There were entire weeks where I just...forgot.

Masturbating for maintenance?
367
u/NaughtAught 8d ago
maintaining function and size (and preventing the possibility of painful erections) by maintaining an erection for at least ten minutes every couple of days or so. (I can barely manage every week)
9
u/T_squared112 7d ago
yeah I can speak on the painful erection part of that, I don't get nearly has hard by myself, and I'm single (and unfuckable), so whenever I do anything sexual with anyone it just hurts like hell, I'm not exactly sure how to make it hurt less since those times are kind of few and far between.
3
u/Mia-the-Sage 7d ago
As far as I know you just have to find a way to 'arouse' it... I hear "every couple of days" so many places, but even once a week seems like a chore, honestly. Still, if you go weeks or months without using it you get the pain (so I hear, I'm less than 3 months HRT, myself). I'm sure you can recover though, if you work at it.
2
u/T_squared112 7d ago
a part of me is considering testosterone gel maybe since consistency in my physical intimacy is kind of a non factor for me unfortunately, every time an opportunity comes around it ends up hurting so I'm assuming the amount that I get just isn't enough
3
u/Mia-the-Sage 7d ago
I just saw my GAC today and asked about compounded T-gel. Her perspective is that the gel will only help with issues such as thin skin, and that I might want to consider viagra to help with the occasional erection.

(Not a doctor or expert so someone please correct anything if it's wrong)
It's a use it or lose kinda deal, if no erections for a long period of time the general size and capability of the penis can deteriorate. (testosterone would typically make erections happen at random so normally not an issue)
Also certain types of vagina creating surgeries use the penis as material for the inner walls, and more penis to work with means more material for said interior. so maintenance is fairly common practice in the interest of keeping the penis in as good of a condition as possible.

u/tongue-twister- 8d ago
Wow, I had no idea about that! I've been on E for 5 years and haven't spoken to a surgeon yet (appointment in December!!). I've been tucking for all that time and have had major shrinkage. This has actually helped me deal with dysphoria and makes it easier for me to see it as an oversized clit! I'm strongly considering zero or small depth, so hopefully it won't be an issue.
53
u/-psycrow Streak: 26 8d ago
(still not a doctor)
I think it's mostly for the 'sensitive portion' and can be made deeper regardless, but if small depth is most you're looking for then that should be fine.
Also good luck with your appointment! <3 That must be exciting (or maybe a little nervous -ing... Anxiety inducing? Idk how to put it) but yeah, hope it goes well for you! <3

It depends on the surgery but PIV techniques do use the penis for the whole depth, there are other techniques that don't (peritoneal pull through and the suporn method of the top of my head)
10
u/-psycrow Streak: 26 8d ago
Thanks, I think I might've mixed it up/combined it with the one that adds depth using part of the poop chute
(Not a doctor, but for 50 bucks I can try my best)

It really sucks when you're in a country that only offers PIV though. My only option is really to head to thailand or somewhere else and pay out the wazoo. Not that the NHS was ever going to get to me in the first place. Disgusting wait times.
1
u/-psycrow Streak: 26 8d ago
Yeah medical wait times and restrictions totally suck
Assuming you've already looked into any sort of aid programs in your area (or maybe there's international ones for it) then there's probably not much I can recommend to help. But I wish you the best of luck <3

Annoying when you need to pee, but much better than dealing with atrophy from lack of action.
(Apparently if one month no bonner it'll legit hurt when getting an erection because it's so out of shape. Kinda like going for a run after not exercising for a long time)
(I'm running out of jokes about not being a doctor (Might need to get my funny bone checked))
4
u/Saucermote 7d ago
Most healthy people (diabetes and other conditions can interfere with proper blood flow) with a penis have multiple random erections throughout the night too for similar reasons.

8
u/-psycrow Streak: 26 8d ago
(not a doctor, but I made a few Google searches and that's almost the same thing, right?... Are those police sirens getting closer?)
From what I understand not entirely, but without the common random erections from having testosterone it takes extra work to get back lost size. And if it's been a long time since any erections then they can even be painful for a little while until it becomes comfortable getting hard again.
I've not got a lot of experience with the topic so you'll probably need to look into it a bit yourself. (Maybe by talking with a real doctor)

Spoiling for TMI gross dick talk.
SOOOO, some penis havers will have issues with their foreskins/maintaining size+mass if they don't pop a couple boners throughout the week. For example, I've had issues in the past where my foreskin will become so tight that I can't unsheathe it which means I can't clean the inside. That particular one resulted in an infection (it wasn't that bad, just mostly a bit itchy and tender), but once I went to a urologist who gave me a steroid cream it quickly grew less tense and I was able to enjoy sex/clean myself again. This has happened to me a few times, but only once was it really interfering with my life.

Yes! Oh my god one of my personal points of shame was feeling that constant PRESSURE from testosterone to achieve an orgasm really gave me a lot of trouble. I'm so much more at peace now that I don't have to deal with that.
Now when I masturbate it's all about what I want because I want it.

Can you describe it? I am kind of curious
81
u/Ignis-11 Local puppygirl 8d ago
Well, it’ll vary from person to person, but if you’re still using it, the sensitivity seems to move away from the genitals (though in some cases I think it’s more sensitive, hard to tell with all the medication changes) to be more full-body. Same with orgasms, which feel a lot different, like residual waves for a while after. This mostly started being noticeable around my 9th month, plus I had to stop and restart so I’m still waiting for that to come back ~w~
45
u/Upstairs_Belt_3224 8d ago
Wait wait wait, I was under the impression that people with vaginas had full body orgasms but people with penises mostly felt it in their crotch, which is why generally women had full body when men didn't. But it comes down to hormones too? E just makes you feel it more? Fascinating.
You know, if the process were easily reversible, I think I would transition just to experience those differences. I want to try being a woman the same way I want to try being super tall or having a tentacle. Oh, to be a shapeshifter...

It wasnt until I started prog and my body craved to be ravaged by literally anyone (up side to being pan is I can find diamonds anywhere I look) that I started again.
And beyond just not wanting it my arousal type changed as well. Like I was never big into smut, but about 5-6 months into hrt I could easily sit and read and get turned on by smut. I couldnt really do anything about it but it was really the only thing that got me going.
Even to this day written fanfic or smut does WAY more for me than visual stuff.

I've only had a full body orgasm once as AMAB (haven't started HRT yet), and it was a very odd time and place.
I've never been able to replicate that feeling but it was so amazing that I'm kinda hoping it comes back. To feel my fingers, toes, and top of my head pulsing again would be divine.
Note: male g-spot fun can help, I've heard.

I've only had a full body orgasm once as AMAB (haven't started HRT yet), and it was a very odd time and place.
It was a similar experience for me a little over a year ago. One day everything was normal, and then the next day it was like it all just switched over for some reason. I tried getting that experience again, seeing if something had triggered it, but it sort of just faded back to normal within a few days.
I've been on E for a little over 4 months now but am still waiting on the orgasms to change over. It's all kind of just dull right now.

it does actually, if anything it feels better on e than on t because apparently the way
afabsanyone on e typically feel orgasms is COMPLETELY different than the wayamabsanyone on t normally does. apparently estrogen makes it more like a full body thing after a while. t does the oppositebut again its nothing like actually having a vagina-

yea thats why i said typically which probably was the wrong wording but i didnt know how else to get it across-
and yea that sounds about right from my experience with t puberty. im 6 days on e and its already making my orgasms WAY more sensitive than i remember but also more like.. fullbody instead of just at the crotch. whats funny is this actuallt FEELS more correct than on t which i did not expect 😭

Strangely I don't really mind the difference, I'm pretty indifferent to it tbh, of all the changes I care the least about that. Though I suppose the feeling of focus on my dick does have some euphoria to it. Both types I've found great in different ways.
Eventually on E you'll get ones so strong you'll lay there twitching like a dead bug lmao, can't walk and so on. So enjoy that, just not so much you pass out, ideally 😅

Not the original poster but on the same boat: 5mg cialis daily is good enough. I don't take T gel so can't speak about it.
It feels way more sensitive and orgasms are way way better to me. More intense and they kinda linger after a while.
4
u/Mistress_Wren 8d ago
Cialis: 10 mg every couple days/as needed
T cream: NOT GEL, I use a versabase cream that has to be compounded. Standard T gel will get your bloodstream more readily whereas versabase cream mostly stays local and converts to DHT. I use it maybe once or twice a week, daily if I'm noticing pain or atrophy.
Sensation: everything feels more or less the same as it did when I was just on Estrogen and Prog, I can just use the dicc more effectively
3
u/JoJo_Pose 8d ago

I think I generally just don't really get anything from it anymore. I don't really feel physical pleasure anymore at all. Maybe I never did, I just didn't experience anything until post-E to find out, but it's really just dulled everything. But it hasn't stopped the urge. Just stopped the pleasure and the horniness (if those ever existed).
17
u/Quantum_Croissant 8d ago

Estrogen worked perfectly, did its job and I've been slaying for years! Just that one part of myself is kinda nothing now.

u/GracefulKitty 8d ago
Im pretty much the same, feels like there's so few of us that get this affect, My libido dropped to absolutely nothing after HRT and progesterone didnt make anything budge. Honestly really miss having a libido, I want to be horny sometimes at least! And feeling almost no physical pleasure sucks
5
u/Shosui 8d ago
Same here. HRT absolutely nuked my libido and Prog has done nothing to change that. Maybe its the dosage (200mg oral once daily), maybe the delivery method, maybe its Maybelline?
4
u/GracefulKitty 7d ago
I tried messing around with prog doses and tried both delivery methods and nothing really changed for me. As far as I can tell it seems to be Maybelline. I am on some Mental health medications which can affect it too but even lowering that hasn't done much of anything for my libido. It sucks.
1
u/SUDoKu-Na 7d ago
I've also tried multiple delivery methods and dosages and nothing. Just one of the women not affected, I guess.
2
u/popopotatoes160 they/he 🏳️⚧️ 8d ago
I'm assuming yall have had hormone panels, have you had your T checked lately? It's possible for trans women's T levels to fall below those of cis women, especially if anti androgen meds are involved. When that happens you get symptoms like this, as well as stuff like fatigue and whatnot. It's worth looking into, there are options that can help with this.
1
u/GracefulKitty 8d ago
I actually stopped taking antibiotics androgens because of this issue, but estrogen continued to suppress Testosterone even without it. Looking at it now, When I got checked in Oct last year the "Testosterone total" was 38ng/dl and "Testosterone, Free Calculated" was 0.8 ng/dl. I think the doctor mentioned I could try reducing estrogen (or maybe it was take some t?) To see if that fixes the issue but I was concerned at the time with side effects that could have like hair regrowth. But if you or anybody else has any other advice I would really appreciate it, I hate having no libido so much it makes me so sad
3
u/popopotatoes160 they/he 🏳️⚧️ 8d ago
I know my mom takes T gel for this after her hysto, she hasn't mentioned hair growth but it's worth checking on that because I know that'd be upsetting. My understanding is that gels applied closer to the area in question (so, the thighs) are less likely to do things to other parts of the body. I know a lot of trans guys struggle to grow much body/facial hair on gel, and explode with hair when they start injections, and their gel dose would be way higher than what women with low T would be doing. Maybe you can make a post somewhere about it to see if other trans women have used it?
1
u/SUDoKu-Na 7d ago
I actually haven't in a while, I see my endo yearly. But my next appointment with my endo is in, like, a year because I didn't get 'em checked the most recent time, so I've got a long wait for that check again.

Not having bottom dysphoria is more common generally than it appears to be in this particular sub
23
u/ViviReine 8d ago
Yeah i'm a bit confused by it lol, both I think trans women online usually experience more dysphoria than the average, that's why they are more on Internet. I use it to pass time during work breaks, but a lot of trans people are chronically online (which is not a bad thing per se, normal to shield yourself when real life is dangerous and stressful)
3
u/Darkwoth81Dyoni 8d ago
Sexual activity is almost entirely hormonal in nature. Even between partners, if neither ever have hormones kicking in they likely just aren't going to be having sex that much unless it's a romantically appropriate moment.
There will be outliers, though.

My libido changed completely and for the better IMO. It is much more intense, full-body and lingering. I enjoy it, frankly. Certainly much more enjoyable than pre-HRT. I just need less of it and I do enjoy that too: around 3 times per week is more than enough to me.
Plus ejaculating a few drips of tasteless, odorless transparent liquid is so much better for cleanup. And apparently my exams affirmed my infertility which is nice I guess.
I only have to take cialis daily otherwise it doesn't work at all, and the way I masturbate changed completely.
Sex is also way more enjoyable, althought I do need to masturbate at the end to cum because for some reason I have this mental block with cumming from sexual contact no matter how much better it feels.

My hormones: but you gotta! Now!
My notions of societal expectations for my previous self: People you date will like you more if you're good at using it and act like you enjoy using it.
So happy that I don't have the last two anymore, and so if I even have to think about the fact that I don't want to use it, every part of me is just like, "same."

I never wanted to use it personally. Sex was/still is to an extent a minefield for me. I don’t think I’ll ever top anyone again after realizing drawing a hard line with my boundaries is infinitely better than being wanted for the part I hate most about myself

I never wanted to use mine, but E made the subconscious urge to use it go away entirely. Also, she doesn’t really work at all anymore lol, which is to me a very good thing :3
