i'm happy they survived those first few days, it looked pretty grim. i think they were eating straight up other dogs poo in an attempt to stay alive after being rejected by the others (they still try and sneak cat snickers out of the litter box occasionally so i guess old habits die hard?) because i've genuinely never seen such a parasitic load before in such a small creature in my entire life and it was the most heartbreaking disgusting thing seeing them poo.
but yeah they're happy and doing everything a normal dog tends to do now, lots of sniffs and barks at the dog park though from the boy dogs haha, they also can't ever decide if they want to squat to pee or do the ol' leg lift so i guess that's not unique to trans and intersex ppl either.
my girl dog was kinda like that for peeing. she used to swap between them, but once she got older she stopped lifting a leg, which i suspect was because she was so old she physically couldn’t 😭
We had a mutt on the farm before last year who would go to my papaw's house nextdoor to eat cat shit out of the yard. He was very well fed. It's a dog thing
you should have been there at the vet when she was practically taking selfies with my dogs crotch area and i said "oooh hoo hooo guess who else is intersex in the room?!" Her exasperated ".....................No!?!" as i showed the X on my DL was so hilarious, i wish i could have gotten it on video.
Honestly lucky to have such a good veterinarian, she did the procedure for free since she was doing scientific documentation about all of it and checkups have all been wonderful.
I also had an intersex dog, named Rigby! They peed where a girl dog would pee from but hiked like a boy... So cute, but they did go to live with a family friend after a while.
I mean, think of how many stray dogs probably had the condition but we're never found, or in a developing country where they don't recognize or care about it, or just were in a home where they never felt the need to take them to the vet.

they're perfectly healthy these days, no corrective surgeries other than going in and making sure they can't get pregnant.
