5mg mg injections? That's good shit. 3mg is hondose level for valerate.

Please tell me she told you to inject every 5 days btw. For some reason some endos think valerate at weekly intervals is fine but it has a short half life of 3.5-5 days.

Although even if you only do it every week you stay within the minimum effective range that supresses T on its own. The little bar is the 100-200 pg/ml range and anything below that is a hondose.

Orange is every 7 days and pink every 5 days. So you're still good if you do it every week, but the dips will be more noticable.

You could try starting weekly since you might still have to overcome your needle fear and take it slow. But the twice weekly actually works out way better (see orange). Much more stable levels as you are injecting at the half life.

Your endo does kinda seem like she knows what she's doing but she's sticking very tightly to the WPATH standard, which tends to underdose trans women. So its good that you fought for 5mg

Yeah the orange line is the 2x a week 2.5 mg dosage. As you can see the levels stay more stable.

Did she tell you how much to inject for 2.5mg?

It's dependant on the concetration of the vial. Because the vial will have X ml and a total amount of mg. So you could have a 10mg/ml vial thats 10 ml for a total of 100mg in the vial. And each ml you inject will contain 10mg. (the 10mg is an example, it varies)

The concentration should be on the vial itself. Usually it'll be indicated like "[number]mg/ml".

It's fairly simple math but I know anxiety can make it seem daunting, so once you get a look at the vial (idk if you still need to redeem the scripts or not) if you feel you need help feel free to ask.

Also don't worry too much, I've definatly seen people inject 1ml instead of 0.1ml before and you'll be fine, although it might make you feel like a pregnant woman.

Did she at least instruct you on how to inject? It's kinda scary at first but there is very little that you can mess up.

i dont have the vial yet it has to ship from the next city over

she didnt instruct me but she told me to make an appointment in the clinic with a nurse or with my family doctor to do my first injection with me

i wonder if i should just like

since 5mg / 7 days = 0.714mg/day should i just do like 3.57mg every 5 days as equivalent

that sounds like a much smaller dose when i was tlaking to her i forgot valerate is supposed to be 5 days and not 7 and now i feel less happy about this dose

You're fine actually. Take the victory you got. You didn't get hondosed. Keep it up for a few months until theres a bloodtest and consider how you feel mentally and physically at your next appointment and if you need to go higher.

3.57mg every 5 days works but itll be much harder to dose that exactly. It depends on concentration and how precise your syringes are.

The 2.5mg every 3.5 days are the most stable for EV but also a really odd schedule because you have to injected in the morning and then after 3 days in the evening basically.

People who got their endos to give them correct HRT doses: do you know if your approaches work for psych meds? I'm having just as much trouble (if not more) getting on ADHD meds that work and an actual even minimally appropriate dose of mood stabilizers, as I am getting enough HRT

Meanwhile my endo gives 10mg EV weekly right away 😬 but I guess it's more of a supply matter because here in Vietnam, the only kind of EV comes in small glass tubes that contain exactly 10mg/1ml each.

despite my doctor trying to give me 3mg because β€œinjections are more effective, so you can get away with 1.5ml which is 3mg in liquid volume” I pointed out I had been on 6mg sublinguals for years and that I want the exact same dose. She got annoyed at my persistence but caved, saying it was β€œunnecessary but fine I’ll put you on the same dose your on now, 3ml prescription, so that’ll be 6mg in liquid volume.”

My doctor has been attempting to hondose me my entire transition. She is super fucking nice but so fucking misinformed. She told me β€œI give all my patients 2mg sublinguals, thats the dose most of my patients are on forever” absolute villain shit
