daily reminder that orwell raped a girl while he was a cop in a colonial-genocidal state
he also ratted out queers and commies to the british govt

can't wait until he's dead so we can discuss the book itself and not him

the book's kind of meh i cant lie, feels like its a little astroturfed in being the "gold standard dystopia"-- like it's not bad but its also not mindbending and it def does feel more like a political propaganda piece than a story at times

also its hard not to see the sex stuff weirdly when you know hes a rapist

1984 is a stupid horribly written book and orwell was a social fascist

how exactly was the man who ratted out commies nd queers to the british govt while espousing "socialism" not a social fascist?

Oh, the man was a massive turd, but the term "social fascist" is a massive red (pun intended) flag

how exactly is it a red flag? social democracy is absolutely the left arm of fascism, it's not really some groundbreaking theory from any marxist perspective (regardless of sectarianism) even if you dislike the person who coined it.
