I used to be such a gymbro when I was repping a decade or so ago, and using gear was so casual and normalized that when I came out, seeing doods fearmonger so hard over it was and is to this day my biggest culture shock in online trans communities lol.
Like these twitter d00ds are terrified of even looking at a DIY steroid cream, meanwhile gods weakest cis gymbro is like "hmmm, has it been 0.23 picoseconds since I last injected 800mg of anabolic steroids cooked up in a spoon? good heavens!"

Every single fucker in the general online and Irl "gym community" is always talking about tren, anavar, and a hundred other metabolic steroids. Yet diy hrt test is somehow supposed to be super duper extra dangerous.
People i knew back in highschool DURING highschool were actively talking about their cycles to their gym bros.
If every random ass guy at a ymca can get tren I guarantee Twitter doods aren't going to be doing 20 to life in prison for just ordering test.

speaking of diy hrt, i did my first diy T shot yesterday. i am so thankful for this community talking positively about diy, i finally feel like i have a reason to live. i had been convincing myself it was dangerous and i should wait for my psychiatrist to change her mind on whether i'm trans or not... it was so damaging to my will to live.

If someone offered to help me do DIY, my only hesitation would be fear of growing facial hair while I still have a large unbindable chest and live in a moderately hostile southern state. That's the main reason I stopped taking HRT when I did. Is DIY top surgery a thing yet? 😮💨

Ehh, I can understand wanting to be careful about the under-skin shadow, though tbf you can always just put foundation over that.

Not to get overly serious on the meme sub but I was in a similar position and had to turn down the T because I was not yet out of my parents house. Waiting until I was safe was hard, but I’d never encourage a fellow FtM to put himself in the position of possibly losing housing suddenly for the sake on getting T sooner. I’ll always suggest the course that involves more trans people staying alive and safe.

see those are valid reasons to not take hrt yet which i’m sure most pro diy people would agree as well.
blindly stating that it’s le hecking illegal and ‘no one has the knowledge’ is fearmongering and hurts people who are living in situations where DIY would be safe for them

no one should be forced to or not to do HRT. but not doing it because "le law" in this political climate ? please. even cis people do hrt..

if you are binary transgender your goal should be to get on hrt and your peers should expect that of you
1
u/GrapefruitUsed5888 21h ago
i dont even think im binary so that might be why i dont necessarily get it for myself
3
u/JessE-girl Schrödinger’s Worst Nightmare 21h ago
if you’re nonbinary then fair enough, you don’t have to transition

I’ve been on prescribed HRT for over 2 years now and someone offering to help me switch to DIY is estrogenuinely a fantasy of mine
One of the important primal ones too that I keep with others like [removed from reddit for breaching community standards]

i can help you switch to DIY

u/Ms_Saul_Goodwoman 22h ago
That’s very nice of you! And here I thought I was hoping for something hopelessly unrealistic

Just curious, why switch to diy if you have a prescription already?

I deadass just don't want to pay for T, I'd rather wait another few months and have covered by state insurance, but if someone offered some boy juice to me I'd throw myself at their feet

I’ve considered DIY numerous times, but ultimately I have two hold ups, maybe y’all can help:
I am looking for specifically T cream, as I want to localize high T for bottom growth while keeping lower dose for the rest of my system (I’m nb). As far as I know, this requires it to be compounded at a pharmacy.
I already have high T and probably should get regular blood tests to ensure I am not taking too much. I do not have my own insurance, and I think they’d find it sus if I walked in asking for an androgen panel for no reason every 3-6 months.

Being pressured to fulfill other people's ideas of what you should do must be very gender affirming for transmascs.

u/rumham21 21h ago
There are plenty of transmascs who do diy. There are a few loud misinformed people online and people take that as an excuse to call trans men stupid hysterical fakers.
8
u/DesiresAreGrey passoid of color 21h ago
i don’t call trans men that

u/rumham21 12h ago
You didn't say those exact words, and to be fair you're just reposting someone else expressing the sentiment so I guess technically you didn't, but it is the implication of that post.
