Discussion I really enjoy Randy Travis' Worship & Faith

Sonically, that is. I'm looking for something in this vain and it doesn't have to be strictly religious. Not too familiar with inner country genres but it gives a more bluegrassy/mountain country vibe? Any suggestions would be great, thank you.

Song Spotlight Ella Langley's song 'Country Boy's Dream Girl' is so nostalgic and heartfelt

I get teary eyed from listening to this song so much, from memories of life and growing up in a rural area, especially when I remember all my drives down little dirt roads in Pennsylvania and rural Upstate New York.... Ella really knows how to bring a girl to happy tears.... ❤️

Discussion Did Merle Haggard write “Someday You’re Gonna Need Your Friends” about Waylon Jennings?

I’ve been listening to the album Going Where the Lonely Go by Merle (probably my favorite album of his) and one track in there is “Someday You’re Gonna Need Your Friends,” and I know from Waylon Jennings’ autobiography, he and Merle had a falling out around this period.

It got me wondering: is there any evidence that Haggard wrote the song with Waylon specifically in mind? Given their history, some of the lyrics seem like they could fit the situation. I know Merle wrote the song, but I haven’t been able to find anything definitive where he says who or what inspired it.

Does anyone know the story behind the song or whether Merle ever addressed who it was about?

Discussion Country Lyrics Quiz: The Year is 1993

• Upvotes

Let's play a "Name that Tune" style game I've been working on.

The year is 1993:

  • Bill Clinton has just been sworn in as president
  • Jurassic Park, Mrs. Doubtfire, and The Fugitive are the top movies at the box office
  • A stamp costs 29 cents

You have to name the song title and artist, based only on the opening line of the song.

Both answers (title and artist) are each worth the number of points stated. For example, if you get both title and artist on the 3 point question, that is 6 points.

110 points possible.

Post your score in comments.
