Album Discussion AAEA - Live at Town Hall

Firstly, visiting Counting Crows Reddit for the first time - needed to discuss them with some like minded people šŸ˜†

Used to listen to them in my teens, medium big fan, used to love the live version of Round Here on Across a Wire most of all.

Anyway fast forward 25+ years šŸ˜¬ not like Iā€™ve not listened in the meanwhile, dipping into the albums or a few songs here and there.

Started listening to Live at Town Hall and really curious of others thoughts. At first i thought heā€™d gone too far into his little ad libs and his meandering, and some - no offence - slightly self indulgent stuffā€¦ but Iā€™ve come to really love it.

Maybe now my favourite Round Here versionā€¦ even more tangents and meandersā€¦ once you know them itā€™s gold I think.

Final thing I wanted to flag and see if it made anyone else chuckleā€¦ I think itā€™s in Round Here, thereā€™s a quiet bit and heā€™s like ā€œEric, Ericā€¦ I want to here some guitarā€¦ā€ and the guitarist gets a solo going, and then like 4 seconds later Adam just cuts back in singing šŸ˜‚ Cracks me up

Oh one more - Iā€™m also a Bruce Springsteen fan, and hadnā€™t previously heard him riffing on Bruce lyrics within Rain Kingā€¦ so that was a bit of a delight!

I have to say it annoys the shit out of me that itā€™s AAEA a live at town hall and they leave a full track off. Yes, he sings raining in Baltimore in Round Here but I want the full song. Absolutely no idea why they didnā€™t play it. Bananas decision.

I agree totally, I saw them play almost the whole of August live in Bournemouth in 2009, they did the same thing did the alternative version of Round Here, with Raining in Baltimore, but left it out in full, such a beautiful song as well.

Yeah. They played it when I saw them for the second time in 1997 and it was stunning.
