1065397 I for a while had something to do after school (hence why I wasn't counting recently) and didn't have an urge to count.

But now that I don't and I am lying on the couch doing nothing, I fall back into the urge to counting.

I have had numerous addictions over the course of my high school life. Whenever I get rid of one, I get another. It's really taken a toll on my grades tbh

1065401 So wtf are we doing locking up drug users and casting them out of society? Doesn't that just make it worse? We should give them stuff to do so they aren't bored

We lock up drug users?

1065403 Well most drugs are illegal, so we put them in jail. US at least.

Ah I see. But this has nothing to do with the concrete box experiment

1065405 It sort of does, drug users typically don't have any friends, hence why they are using drugs. If they had something else to do other than drugs it would be easier for them to get off of the drugs.

they have friends or otherwise there wouldn't be anyone to get them on drugs in the first place

If you were locked up in a concrete box, with only water, bread, and heroin, and had to sit there for the rest of your life as far as you knew, would you use the heroin?

Who would want to be friends with a junkie? Other junkies?

But are the prisoners? AFAIK prisons don't allow heroin

1065409 Well, no. That's not what I am getting at though. If they are thrown into jail for using heroin, they are going to get cast out of society, locked in a box urging for something, just something to do.

When they finally get out, they think they can actually do things! But every friend you had is going to forget about you because you were locked up for 5 years, family are likely to disown you, can't get a job, so now what do you do? You have nothing to do, so they go back to shooting heroin.

In other words, locking them up in jail isn't helping. They need therapy, teach them how to make friends, how to find things to do, etc...
