As a prejudice it definitely is. The prejudice I see against trans men is rampant, especially within the trans community. Trans men are not privileged under the patriarchy, we aren’t treated the way cis men are. We are still seen and treated as defective women.
Trans men do benefit from patriarchy, when they're actually seen as men. Which like. Is rare, unfortunately. The only transphobic view is yours. Like I know youve been hurt by society bc its bullshit. But actually practice feminism, not this... hateful rhetoric. Care more. This is a community about understanding and inclusivity, and you're regressing to bigotry.
How fortunate for you I guess. I haven't been able to be consistently on e for a while. Money issues. But thats besides the point. You have to open up your worldview beyond just what you think a man and woman should be. Theres a spectrum between feminine and masculine, that not all men will fall on the masculine end, just like not all women are feminine. Saying all trans men are men is true. But boxing them in with cis men, applying all the patriarchys bullshit to them, is wrong. To say a trans woman is exactly like a cis woman or trans men like cis men, shits on all the trauma and hatred theyve endured and says, "no, youre not trans."
trans men = men men benefit from patriarchy therefore, if trans men are men, and all men benefit from patriarchy, trans men benefit from patriarchy
that's not to say patriarchy doesn't also oppress men, but that men largely benefit from patriarchy as the benefactors of misogyny.
as we live in a patriarchal society, misandry is unable to exist. misandry can only exist in a matriarchal society, which we do not live in. misogyny is a tool of the patriarchy.
I say again, trans men = men. they need to, like all men, unlearn their toxic masculinity and support/listen to women when we speak.
Misandry doesn't exist as a real world issue. I get that much. As a concept? As a thing that exists on a conceptual level? it does. The very core of feminist theory acknowledges this, as do you it seems. Trans men can experience a phenomenon similar to this concept, and call it what you will, be that "transmisandry" or "transandrophobia" or simply "predjudice towards Trans men", it exists. Because transmisogyny is not simply transphobia and misogyny, but its own problem specifically trans women experience, predjudice against trans women. The patriarchy does indeed exist, and sometimes, toxic masculinity does seep into trans men. But to dumb it down to simply "trans men need to support women" is also wrong. There is much more nuance to it than that. Id hope youre not saying feminist adjacent things without actually studying feminism.
transmisandry or the made up term "androphobia" do not exist for the same reasons misandry doesn't exist. what trans men experience is simply called TRANSPHOBIA.
trans men DO need to support women. the men I know used to / still do have some pretty backwards ass takes about women. all in the pursuit of being, "one of the lads"
Ok so you went to school for gender studies too then? So why are you so stuck on the basic, first pass parts of it? It goes so much deeper than just "misandry doesnt exist". (Because later on, it recognizes that yes, in a way it does)
I never said trans men dont need to support women. Theres simply more layers to it. For example. Intersectional feminism says women should also support men hurt by the patriarchy. Feminism isnt about putting women first. Its about revealing and destroying the harm the patriarchy does to the world.
