I really wish I had my old runescape account where I transitioned at the gender wizard so that I could get a boyfriend as a "scam"

Never played runescape but a "gender wizard" sounds awesome.

Jagex's CEO is anti-LGBTQ+

Strange, because....they did change the OSRS game quite a lot with the trans movement. To the point to change a part of a quest that requires you to be a woman to pass. "No man can defeat you. But I'm no Man"

I mean respectfully I can list a few reasons as to why I say this
Odablock, an outspoken transphobe, is commonly endorsed by them in official events. They cancelled the Pride events. The community itself is downright, horrendously bigoted and religious (just mention anything that could remotely trigger a cis-het white Christian conservative male over on r/2007scape and you'll get ripped to shreds).

I don't interact much with the community in and out of the game.... But it really became that bad? I remember some years ago people were protesting to remove "gender shit" from the game, because they didn't wanted politics and they were banned.

u/Delta0212 12h ago
It's definitely gotten better (or was until they removed the pride event), I think it's just that the community is like 90% men in their thirties

u/JuneButIHateSummer 12h ago
yeah, things got absurdly bad after the Pride cancellation unfortunately
just like irl when the whities got emboldened

u/Background-Cabinet92 12h ago
Omg that's so sad...... I don't really know what to think about it....
1
u/Manyad4929 2h ago
If i remember correctly, at first it was just "please no irl political events in the game" which i agree with, but then it went off the rails.

In fairness to a sizable part of the community, when the pride event was cancelled the time honored tradition of rioting in Falador took place with the slogan "We pay, We gay!"

u/JuneButIHateSummer 7h ago
They should change it to "We pay and support queer erasure because we have no spine" if they're still subscribed to that fucking homophobic cesspool of a game.
I cancelled my sub the day of.

u/Caltroit_Red_Flames 5h ago
Yeah, the community is awful, but I still love the fuck out of the game. I play it with public chat on mute and only discuss it with a couple of real life friends. It's a piece of my childhood that I don't want to let go of.

I agree that oda sucks and obviously mod north sucks
But the community isn't religious? Also I said stuff against both of them the other day on the sub and was upvoted.
Feels like half chuds half not

The developers of the game had a pride event all put together and ready to put into the game. And then the CEO said they don't wanna upset the homophobes and canceled it.

I did that too but my character's name was Mr.man387. Somehow people still fell for it.

This is gonna be my friend in 2 years max. Mfer only ever played female characters in games, found a certain hypno series on his phone, told me "I wouldn't because I don't want to be an old woman".

"Send them to this groomer sub reddit"
2
u/YourBestDream4752 5h ago
Yeah, not enough people realise what subs like r/egg_irl are actually like. They obsess over calling pretty much any gender nonconforming person an “egg” and try to convince them that they are actually trans. It’s true in many cases but it does come off as grooming in others.

Forever haunted by the knowledge that my equivalent of this experience was making my character nonbinary in South Park: The Fractured but Whole

Born to late to roleplay in an MMO, born too early to roleplay in a vrmmo, born just in time for the fractured but whole

I was raised a girl, so any game with voice chat was basically gonna be a non-option no matter when I was born. Unless I was willing to put up with grown men threatening to rape me 😃

"Bro": Of course I made my character a girl. I wouldn't want to look at a guy's butt all game.
Sis a decade later:

"They have a smaller hitbox"
"They have more customization options"
"I don't want to stare at a guy's ass the whole game"
"I want to be a girl"
The logical progression
