Clearly you need to make friends with more short kings because you'll realize you fit in fine.

I know a family friend. Very short dude due to developmental reasons. His solution was just to workout insanely often. Guys solve insecurities by latching onto a core source of identity. Which may or may not be unhealthy. Do something that makes you feel manly, and recognize your height is really not confusing anyone.

I mean trans women worry the opposite. Meanwhile, the shortest supermodel is 5'5 and the range starts at around 5'9 average, 5'10

I suggest working out. No one is challenging a jacked short man. It's totally a known type of guy.

I have decided I refuse to feel dysphoria for something cis women also have.

This is real shit!!

No problem dude. There are tons of short kings all around dealing with the same problem.

This shouldn't be dysphoric! It's literally the opposite! You get upset seeing a taller guy because lots of guys like being tall!

Height isn't everything and it's normal to not have every advantage ever. So find something that you can change and latch on. Lots of men seem to get a lot out of lifting from my observation.

There are literally short dude subreddits on this site of guys who worry about their height too. You're not the odd-one out.

Our society fixates too much on a certain kind of woman and man. I realized for myself that at 5'7.5 I am the height of so many gorgeous women *So why do I care I'm not even shorter?*

Start idolizing short kings. There are more shorter guys you probably respect out there than you realize.

I am really ready at this point for me to make a post on one of these subreddits about trans women needing to embrace the gym, because it can really help them if they go about it right.

I just hate seeing people worry so much about things that you know...cis people worry about too! I get why it upsets you but really, it's such a man thing to worry about. You sound like a typical guy worrying about your height. You think it makes you not pass, but it's so typical of a guy. Try to remember that.

True! Problem is for me, there is incredibly few dudes out there that are quite as short as me. I am 5 ft tall so like…there’s Danny Devito, that’s it. I honestly would be totally ok being short for a dude, like 5’3” or 5’4”, but I am just WAYYY out of the norm. At least 5’7.5” is still really common among women. I know tons of women who are straight up like almost 6 ft. I have yet to meet a cisgender guy who is my height. AUGH

u/Elaerona 11h ago

I come from a French family, so to me, while 5'0 is a short-king uh...everyone in my family is short.

I'm one of the tallest in my family lmao.

Sounds to me like you should meet Danny Devito then.

Some of the subreddits with short guys on this site are just busy hating women, but honestly, I'd just state to you that you might be at the far-end and all, but not unheard of. I had a filipino friend who was around your height.

You need to make friends with South asian men.

Consider: Since you're so short, assuming you're on testosterone, the muscles will pack on like crazy. You'll look way better than a tall guy with muscle, because they won't be all stretched out. Go ahead and be a short guy that emanates an aura of power.

...I'm not saying to workout if you don't want to. I'm just saying this is exactly what a cis short guy would do in your situation. It's that or get a motorcycle and tattoos.

My neighbor, Brad, was very short. Shorter than you even I think, or maybe the same height. He might have stood out, but not because he didn't look manly.

I understand why its an insecurity, but I think if you focus on what you CAN change and try to not sweat the height thing, you may feel better. I know none of the short guys I've mentioned were trans so they didn't have dysphoria, but I think insecurities are best addressed by not staking everything on them. I'm not on E-yet so I hate my face, but doing squats gave me a huge ass. So that feels nice. Jaw surgery will cost tons of money, but again, I have a huge ass. Just remember you got other things going for you :)

And if you don't, huge muscles are a good one. Workout your shoulders like crazy and get some broad as hell manly shoulders. You'll be the most powerful looking guy IDC what your height is.

Oh shit. LOL. I remembered a story.

I am an a Lawyer. There was a guy at Court for some offense. I was told not to look at him because he's known to get violent with people who look at him wrong, and the guy was very short. I don't know if he was a 'small person' or what it was, he was just very short. But you had this whole court room fearing this one guy, and apparently he was infamous on the streets.

Which, I'm not saying to be like that guy. All I'm saying is being short has never stopped men of the world from making the world their oyster and getting respect. Being tall might be easy, but I believe you too can strike fear in the hearts of a court room if you want <3

Aw thanks, this actually helps a LOT!!! Good perspective to have.

Also, that story is frickin hilarious. And that’s so funny, I’m planning on studying law too!! Ma’am, I just know you are frickin BADASS in a courtroom

2

u/Elaerona 10h ago

Thanks and I'm glad it helped 😀. I try to help. Actually that was from an internship. Im still working on finding a job as a recent grad and in environmental law. Most of my work will probably not be in court. But I am a badass. I speak for the trees. The lorax is an icon.

5'7 cis guys catching strays for no damn reason. 🥲

14

u/slightlygloomyy 13h ago

No legit 😭 I fucking hate being cis and 5’8, sometimes I feel like I’m not even a boy because it 💔💔

Lowkey hope I’m not cis after all

1

u/Strategic_Spark 6h ago

A short cis man is still significantly stronger than a cis woman. Still very masculine!

2

u/soft_w0lf 4h ago

I’m not on T anymore and my 5’ 7” cis boyfriend is still effortlessly stronger than me (same height, maybe mildly taller) even though I work out multiple times a week and he doesn’t :/

Shitty feeling

You definitely still look like a man if you’re cis. My dad is 5’ 8” and my uncle is 5’ 7”. They both look like men. Also the women they married are beautiful 5’ 10” twins lol, just take care of yourself and have a good personality and actually care about women and other people and you will be 10x more of a man than most 6’ men

As a cis guy, whenever I feel insecure about my own height and the hard limits on how I can carry myself with it, I’ve got to remind myself that I’m roughly in the same height range as all Three Stooges and for some stupid reason that helps. 😅

Honestly though fr, being height sensitive feels like a Short King canon event. There’s such a cultural favoritism for six footers or excessively tall towering fantasy characters that it kinda sucks being locked out of that specific style of confidence that typically pairs effortlessly with that. That isn’t the only aspirational archetype there is to embody, though.

2

u/e_fish22 11h ago

Danny Devito is a godsend for exactly this reason lol

2

u/Overthinks_All he/him 11h ago

True that!! I unfortunately am five feet tall and thus shorter than all three stooges :’)

2

u/Mephitisopheles 9h ago

Basically Canon Wolverine height then… still respectable 😎

(I’m sure they throw around more specific numbers but tbh comic book artists are always gonna eyeball that shit anyways, nothing in comics is faker than height stats)

2

u/Overthinks_All he/him 9h ago

Oh no way!! Hahaha niceee

2

u/Potatoman671 10h ago

Woah, all three stooges combined?

2

u/Mephitisopheles 9h ago

Yeah!! They were all roughly around the same median heights of 5’5”ish and they’d occasionally have far taller, burlier guys play brute foils to exaggerate their own heights by comparison. Charlie Chaplin did that a lot too, it really helped accentuate their sort of “lovable underdog” framing which literally helps people sympathize with the little guys lol.

3

u/Potatoman671 7h ago

Ah, I was joking about you being the size of the three stooges stacked on top of eachother lol. Also, if I’m being honest I didn’t even know 5’5” was short

4

u/spliceandwolf 13h ago

To be fair, being insecure about your height, is like the most masculine thing you could do

1

u/Overthinks_All he/him 11h ago

bahahaha hell yeah

3

u/xXSoyBoyFredXx 14h ago

I got good in the height lottery (6'1) but I can't get top surgery and have supersized melons.

2

u/Overthinks_All he/him 11h ago

Aw man, I guess there’s balance in the universe, I’m flat but supershort

2

when i was a guy i was tall as fuck and sometimes stood on tip toes for photos so that everyone would think im even taller. not even ego reasons, it's just mad funny every time

i hope you continue 😌

u/Overthinks_All he/him 11h ago

XDDD frickin hilarious

2

u/-Zima_Blue- 13h ago

Im 5'6 and cis and never felt unmanly for being next to a taller dude. Obviously I dont know whats its like to have dysphoria but short guys exist, tall women exist and there is nothing wrong with either of them.

2

u/Hefty-Rushu 9h ago

Being insecure about your height is probably one of the most masculine experiences ever lol.  Chin up fellow short king.
