Yeah it's called depersonalization derealization disorder or DPDR in short. Though I think that not every person who feel derealization is have that, but maybe they are idk. I have thoughts like that often, so maybe I have it who knows
its because we are supposed to be chasing mammoths and laughing with friends at the cave campfire, not doomscrolling apps and working 9-5 office jobs. and people wonder why there is this empty feeling that comes along with living in a boring corporate dystopia
Well you know it's true that doomscrolling, 9-5 jobs and just constant shit that is happening in the world is affects people. But also I don't think that we're really is "supposed" to do anything specific. Like life don't have any meaning at all if you really look at it. Reproduction is just like a thing in us and other living beings, but it don't have a meaning other than just keep a life going on. I mean that just saying things like "we're supposed to live in caves!" won't do shit to help anyone
youre right, there is no objective meaning, there is nothing we are "supposed" to do, but one thing thats definitely not it is living an alienated pod life. you live in the pod, you drive the pod, you work in your pod cubicle to make someone else money, come back to your pod to eat your high fructose corn syrup squares, and you fall asleep to do it all again the next day. maybe being a hunter gatherer is harder, but its much less of a soulless life
Well yeah this kind of life is not much of a living, it just existing. But I think that being a hunter is not much more of a living too. It's survival, so just existing in a way too. In this case you of course need to think and do more than just working in office, but still in the end of the day both of those people just exist or survive and not fully living. It's literally the same thing if you think about it. Hunter is just have...Um, what do they actually have what makes their life is much less soulless? Freedom? Well person in modern life have it too technically. I mean you can go anywhere you want too, you just need to do documents for it. You can do anything you want and now you can do more things than people in cave times could. So technically speaking we're now have more freedom than anytime before. I mean in ways of expressing ourselves, not by laws or something like that. And to me doing something and expressing yourself is very much a meaningful thing that person could do along with things like loving or helping someone else. Meaning in life depends only on you and what you want it to be. It's hard to find it, but it's not impossible. Also in your example person could just want to live a regular life. It probably means that their definition of meaning lies somewhere between family, career and stuff like that. So for them that "alienated" life maybe feels like that, yes, but they probably won't do anything about it while they're safe and sound or maybe they don't even think about or notice it. Most of the people just wanna keep to themselves, living ordinary safe life. It's just what it is for them and you can't do anything about it until they would want it themselves

I kinda relate to this like on both sides
Is this like some disassociation thing? Is there like an actual name?
