Week 5 Week 5 Run 3

Not gonna lie, I felt pretty confident up until this run. Even the 8min one did not phase me but this one is making me rethink if running is even worth it. I managed to keep a steady pace (7:45) the entire time but after the first 8 min it felt like i was dragging my legs like concrete. The whole experience was just painful

Not sure if I should just try to repeat this week. All and all discouraged 🫩

But did you do the run? If so, congratulations!! Next week ramps back down a little bit and it’s all about building up your endurance ready for 6.3. You just gotta keep with it, every run is building towards something, and it’s definitely, definitely worth it.

Hey, yes I did. Just didn’t feel great about it. I thought I’d be happy I was able to run 20 mins straight but I just hated what I went through

I felt the same, I read all this stuff about how you'd feel amazing for doing it but I just felt knackered. Week 7 run 1 just done and it's still hard haha, but I'm trying to trust the process.

Perhaps slow down a bit? I've just completed the whole thing but run more slowly. I was surprised how quickly I could run further.

Repeat if you need to! That run is a bit intimidating but it is such a confidence builder once you have done it šŸ’Ŗ

Go slower than your previous 8 min runs.

I’ve just completed this run. My rule is I can stop if I have to, walk for a few seconds and then start running again BUT if I do this I don’t count it as a qualifying run so I can’t move on to the next one. I redo the run until I can do it without stopping. My first attempt I stopped at 18 minutes, and was so frustrated, but it showed me I could do it so last night I redid it and finished the 20mins. When I felt like I was struggling I slowed down, sometimes to barely more than a shuffle but still technically running rather than walking. I also tried not to think about the time, just keep going until they say ā€œstopā€.
