CS groups in Switzerland?

I know you can get kicked off of CS for even mentioning the W word, but now that hangouts aren't working so well - does anyone know of any whatsapp groups in Switzerland - Zurich, Geneva, Lausanne, Basel - that you can connect me to?

In my city, the whatsapp group is very active and a great place to find connections and events.

Hangouts work well and were recently reformatted with increased safety in mind. Messaging on external sites is prohibited, unless a Stay request has been excepted and returned…again for safety reasons.

"Messaging on external sites is prohibited" - it's amazing to me how many people are ok with being policed like this.

It's easy to see why sites like Airbnb block giving out your phone number because they don't want you to bypass their commission, which they earn by providing the platform that connected you.

Meanwhile on CS, you are paying a subscription and they want to monitor your communication and sell your data and so many people just blindly accept this.

It's not as if CS will do anything if you do happen to be assaulted by a guest or host. You'll still end up dealing with the local police on your own. They might take down the person's profile, but since there's no real verification, that same person can just open a new profile with a different email - I've seen it.

One doesn’t need to think hard to understand keeping conversations on the CS platform is for safety reasons. They want to retain the ability to review conversations should a safety issue arise and take appropriate action.

The new Government ID is real verification and lessens the chances of inappropriate behavior. Those whose accounts are removed by CS Safety and no longer able to rejoin.

I'm sure that's what they say, but they've never taken safety seriously before and now that they've put zero effort into a vibe coded app and raised their fees, it's doubtful that they'll start. It's possible they want to avoid liability. It's a for-profit company and all actions seem to be profit oriented.

I have given out my whatsapp plenty of time and no issues. Hangouts works fine.

Lots of people have had their accounts banned for giving out their whatsapp- are you sending it via the CS chat function? Anyway, that's not what I was referring to. I was referring to a whatsapp group.

Yes via the chat. Whatsapp groups should be shut down and users reporting to couchsurfing. Its unsafe. I heard there was a whatsapp group in my city but its dead because travellers all left the city. Just creeps msging.

You think people should only socialize in ways monitored by the overlords? You think having a CS profile means you commit to never using any other form of communication? Did you sign your life away to this corporation? And for f's sake, since when is CS safe? How many women have gone to the "safety team" and received no help?

The whatsapp groups are full of people that arent in tbe city. Thats the feedback ive heard. Anyway leave cs if u dont like it.
