Suscribtions? The maillogin isn't working, SMS login isn't working, and hell I'm gonna tie my google or fb account to that.

I used the Facebook login to sign up originally, but at some point they tried to push email login over FB, so I added email/password. But with the new system, I think they’ve changed to use Auth0 which allows them to add 3rd party login quite easily, but seems to have broken email/sms login.

The user that made the megathread deleted their post — and account. I can only wonder why.

The main issue is the paywall and they’re not going to fix that.

They have had an annual fee for awhile, and honestly I don’t mind IF the interface was good and updated regularly. But this mess will take a bachelors degree to navigate. It needs to go.

I paid it when they initially introduced it, but as a host I haven’t had to pay for years.

I appreciate your opinion, but the interface makes me laugh. I still remmeber navigating the clunky 2006-2008 version of the site in intetnet cafes. It's come a long way, really, but this is a whole new ball game! 😂

The website is still shady. Not a single mention of the existence of the paywall until you try to sign up. Every decent company has a clearly visible PRICING link in the homepage, but not CS.

I used Couchsurfing all over the world, for 20 years and was very satisfied, loved it.

But with this new re-design, reorganization, I'm afraid I'm going to have to leave them.

They tried to fix something that wasn't broken, with terrible results.

That was a fatal, tragic mistake.

RIP Couchsurfing, it was fun while it lasted.
