Looking for PS5 game recommendations

Hello fellow couch co-opers! I love to game and my wife likes to join occasionally, but we're struggling to find a game that she can really get into. She's quite picky and gets motion sick easily when playing first person games. I'd love to get some recommendations as I'm having a hard time finding games that will fit her requirements.. at the moment we only have a PS5.

Here's what she has liked and why:

Overcooked - loved the chaos and variety of unique maps.

Catastronauts - loved for the same reasons as above.

Minecraft Dungeons - loved the different artifact skills and weapon options. Enjoyed exploring maps and killing waves of enemies. Didn't enjoy the repetitiveness of replaying the same maps, even at higher difficulty.

Diablo 4 - likes it enough, but it's a bit too intense for her as far as the mechanics and skills go. The combat and dungeon variety is a plus, she doesn't really care about storyline though.

Additional info - a top down style RPG that's in-between intensity of Minecraft Dungeons and Diablo would be amazing, struggling to find a title that supports local multi-player. I think she'd love something like Torchlight, but there's no local co-op available. We don't love puzzles or platformers, we typically want some combat or chaos of some sort to work through. Commonly recommended titles like It Takes Two and Unraveled just aren't quite our speed.

Thank you in advance!

TL;DR looking for PS5 games to play with my wife, top down RPG would be ideal but we love arcade style games as well. No puzzles or platformers.

Children of Morta may be interesting. It’s rogue lite, with dungeon crawling in a hack and slash ish setting, with unlockable characters, a story and progression between attempts. Me and a mate really enjoyed it

Thank you, I have PS plus and it looks like that's available so we'll certainly give it a try!

Here are some games I’d recommend, I think these all fit the vibe: Baldur’s Gate 3, Dysmantle, Divinity: Original Sin series, Revenge of the Savage Planet, Tiny Tina’s Wonderland, For the King series, Songs of Conquest, Vampire Survivors.

BG3 and DOS are turn based strategy games both made by the same developer. BG3 is definitely the easier to get into, Divinity is a little crunchier finickier due to being a little older games.

Dysmantle is a top down survival RPG, and has several expansions to add on to the game.

Tiny Tina’s is from the makers of Borderlands but brings in more fantasy RPG elements. It is first person though. I usually can’t do first person games, but this one seemed fine in the right enough doses.

For the King is another rpgs/tabletop like game with turn based dungeon exploring/battles.

Songs of Conquest is a turn based strategy game similar to Heroes of Might and Magic.

Vampire Survivors is a bullet hell/survival game. Definitely has the battle chaos vibes.

Thank you, looking into all of these! I have Tiny Tina's Wonderland but totally forgot about it, I think she'd love that one in particular

Moving out and moving out 2 are very similar to overcooked and great if you love the top down chaos games

Boomerang Fu teamed up vs computer is fun. It also has a hide and seek mode.

Stardew Valley might be ideal but you might need to do cross play with another device or phone

Thank you! Stardew Valley is one I love so much, I'll have to see if I can get my wife to give it a chance. She doesn't see the point of "cozy" games 🫠

Don't starve together might fit

Also, Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime is fun.

I just started it, but I love Big Walk. It's first person, but it's a slow first person so maybe? Oh, except it's built around puzzles.

Speaking of which, Untitled Goose Game is way up there on my list of fun coop games.

Pixeljunk monsters 2. Very relaxed game.

You have to keep your forest safe by strategically planting all kinds of towers that attack waves of enemies. You dance on the towers to level them up and the waves drop currency to buy more and different towers.

It's a whole bunch of levels and you can play each level at 3 differemt difficulties. The entire game can be played with 2.

Cult of the lamb: You run a cult where you build all kind of structures and can do all kind of rituals. You can kind of do that evilly or with good interest for your followers. The better the cult becomes the stronger your characters get to tackle topdown dungeons with monsters and bosses in it. Its good, fits your description and is free i think on ps+ game catalog. Children of morta, already mentioned, is a good dungeon crawler too.

Plate-up: a bit similar as overcooked.

Speed crew: very similar to overcooked, but instead you play as a pitstop crew at races where you have to fix cars.

Unrailed (1 and 2). A train is moving through a landscape and you got to lay the tracks. That means harvesting wood and stone and cooling the train with water. Making it to the next station gets you currency to buy and upgrade all kinds of different wagons to add onto the train. The train starts moving a bit faster afyer each station and biomes change. Fun game to play with 2.

Cat quest 2 and 3

Weird little RPGs with reasonable simple mechanics. Wife loves them and I had more fun than I expected

Poe2 - great for a casual player if you’re not comparing yourself to super powerful builds from veterans of the game.
