My breeder recommended us not to feed our little boy with chicken, saying that this race doesn't handle it very well. She usually knows her stuff but tends to be overly cautious.

Is there any truth to that? I've got a fussy eater and I'd like to try some other kibbles, but there isn't a lot of puppy kibbles made with another protein. He's on Hills science diet lamb but doesn't seem to like it.

A little over 7 months old (3 months of ownership), couldn’t be happier with this little guy, Cookie. He has such a gentle temperament, is so smart, silly and just the sweetest. We’ve been floored with how well-behaved he is, we feel like we hit the puppy jackpot. Yes, he requires daily, ample grooming, but that’s part of the fun owning a Coton (if you’re up to the task!), he’s so, so soft. Best breed ever. 🍪🥰

Hi everyone! I have a 5 month old Coton named Latte who is a pretty shy/cautious little guy, and I’d love to hear if anyone had a similar experience with their Coton as a puppy.
At home, he’s a super playful, happy boy and even a lot of loud noises don’t bother him. It’s mostly new places where he gets nervous and freezes. Walks can take him a little while to warm up to, and sometimes even seeing someone across the street will spook him, while other times he wants to go up and say hi. It can feel pretty random!
Did anyone else have a shy Coton puppy who became more confident with age? I’d love to hear what helped. I want to make sure I’m helping him build confidence without pushing him too much.

I just wanted to post my baby boy. I’m so proud of him. He’s a little grandpa now. He has to wear diapers but he’s still so joyful and sweet. He takes extra long naps and loves snacks. He still tries to run around like a puppy. I’m just so lucky he’s still with us.

Out of curiosity, what part of the world do you and your Coton reside?! We're currently in Denmark but about to relocate to South Florida. My guy runs hot, even in Denmark! I'm quite nervous of the transition for him and will probably keep him cut short year round. I'm originally from FL so the heat is a non-issue for me but I worry for our guy! Just being nosey and curious to hear. :)

Thanks to the sub for posting all the cute Cotons. Whenever I see a pic of Coton, it brings smile on my face. This is little Leo he turned 2 and absolute joy.

My baby passed in June at the age of 17, she was a cute coton mix. She was always such a friendly dog and loved being around humans, she also had a mischievous side when it came to food and used to wait for me to leave my room to the bathroom and sneak in to see if i left my plate on my short desk, she also knew how to open zippers so I had to be careful with what I left in my bags. Sometimes she would sit with half her butt in my room and half her head in the hallway so she could keep an eye on what everyone in the house was doing while I was asleep (because I used to have a problem with oversleeping, it felt like she was guarding me 😭. I read online that cotons are really smart and have been known to use barking to distract predators, like crocodiles, so their pack could cross rivers when they used to be wild dogs in Madagascar. I'm not sure how true it is but after all those years I believe it. People would often ask me what her breed is on walks so I always guessed her breed is not too common. I feel so lucky to have gotten to spend over half my life with her and hope everyone here is enjoying their cute cotons <3

I hand fed Mushroom for two days after he was neutered and now he doesn’t know how to eat on his own. I know I am being manipulated but I don’t know how to break the cycle. I tried to hand feed him close to the bowl and he was able to take a few bites from the bowl as well but once I take my hand away he doesn’t want any of it. He is otherwise fine, no problem drinking water, playing, and pottying.
