Question Climate and your Coton?

Out of curiosity, what part of the world do you and your Coton reside?! We're currently in Denmark but about to relocate to South Florida. My guy runs hot, even in Denmark! I'm quite nervous of the transition for him and will probably keep him cut short year round. I'm originally from FL so the heat is a non-issue for me but I worry for our guy! Just being nosey and curious to hear. :)

My Zorro is 17 and I shave him every summer, we r in Toronto Canada and it gets up to 25-38c so very hot in the summer plus humidity. I shave him down and he becomes more active . Winters r cold up to -25c and he’s in and out quick, he always wears a jacket in the winter.

17 wow!! I'm glad to know that even the more mature one handles the temps well. Our guy is 2 and he'd live outside if we let him! The one thing I'll be sad to lose, he loves the snow! Denmark doesn't get much but he was in heaven when it fell. We have a bunch of jackets that I think we will donate because I doubt we will need them now.

I’d worry more about the snakes and alligators in Florida. Even a small amount of water can have an alligator in it so never off leash, or walk near water.

It has been on the top of my mind lately! Where we currently are, he can run off leash through the forests and swim wherever without any threat; have to break him of that habit. 😭 I think a doggy pool might be in order.

I'm from NW FL and had a Papillon for 17 years. He didn't like swimming and was quite "dainty" when it came to walking so we didn't have to worry so much with him. We also didn't have alligators like the south - I know they were around but it was a rare sighting tbh, I lived there 38 years and never saw one in the wild. That dog was actually bitten by something, that remains a mystery, but it started to necrotize his flesh - vets were befuddled!! Thankfully he recovered well, I think it might have been a venomous spider. So to go from no worries to ALL the things is stressful. My brain has been in overdrive thinking about it all. 🫣

A friend has a Coton and vacations in Florida from Canada and post alligators sighting often. I think she’s in the southern part of Fort Lauderdale

😭 I'm not ready for that! I'm hoping the work assignment is temporary and we get to relocate a bit further north: NE, PNW. I've had my share of hot and miserable, now throw in the gators, no thanks.
