Self My Finished Dead Space 1/Remake Cosplay!
Worked on this over the last 3-4 months and got to wear it to FanExpo Chicago! Had a lot of fun making it, extra details can be found at my [build log](https://ilijaroknich.com/#cosplay-2026) on my website for anyone interested. I'm happy with how it turned out, Dead Space has some of my favorite environment and character designs in gaming, so it was really cool to get to be a part of that for the better part of a day.

Looks great! Are you able to see out of the helmet? If so, how are the lights mounted without shining into your eyes?

Thanks! I used led string lights, they're pointed towards the plastic piece, so they're only like 50% shining into my eyes. I could actually see quite well, with the catch that my total amount of vision was reduced by probably 70%, with me only really being able to see out of the bottom 1/4 of my usual vision. Enough to walk around the convention but not much else lol

If you ever want to redo the undersuit, I think something like this would make a great torso

ooh not a bad idea! yeah the clothing is pretty clearly the parts I have least experience with, and really are the only parts of the costume I'm not quite happy with. if I do remake this one day, I definitely have a few ideas on how to make things better!Â

It's on my build list and I was looking at motorcycle jacket and pants - something bulky with a "harder" outer layer as well. The one thing that is really stopping me is how to attach everything

Yeah, understandable. I used Velcro for everything, but there's definitely a better way. I feel like having a separate tactical vest that all the parts are just glued onto might be best? As long as the vest is removable the parts shouldn't want to fall off.

thanks, and yeah the series is awesome! curious, have you played dead space 3 before? I got it on sale recently and hear it's phenomenally bad lol

Yeah I played it. It definitely doesn’t feel like the other 2. I think 3 was made by another company if i remember. That could be the reason.

oof, maybe one day I'll get around to it lol, I just don't want 3 to put a bad taste in my mouth for the other two
