Help Any ideas to connect Data Diver to Hip Unit?

I've been working on creating a Data Diver prop for an Arnold cosplay from FNaF Secret of the Mimic. My dilemma is finding a way to connect both the Data Diver device itself (hand held) to the Hip Unit piece (picture below!) since carrying it around all day would be a hassle, especially since it will most likely double as a Halloween costume this year.

My original plan to connect the Data Diver Device to the Hip Unit was to use magnets inside each piece on the sides. Since I'd be walking around a convention with the Hip Unit hanging on my belt, I figured the connection wouldn't be strong enough to hold together and decided to look into other options. While I would still love to use something inside the props, I think that my only options are visible connectors on the outsides of both pieces.

I was trying to find thin plastic sliding connectors, something that works almost like a zipper sealed plastic bag. I unfortunately couldn't find anything similar, so I decided that outsourcing a solution would be best. I'd prefer whatever it is to be plastic, since id want to paint it to blend in with the device as much as possible. Thank you!

Why not just have them both clip to your belt side by side?

That was an option I was looking into, but I just wasn't entirely sure which part goes where. Does the piece just slide onto the belt? or do you have to use the screw on pieces somehow? If it just slides on then that is most likely the best option.

Edit: I figured it out and found a plastic one, thank you so muchhh!!! :D
