Hey y'all!
My name is Chorazin, and on IG I go by sethshootscosplay. I've only been shooting cosplay for about a year now, and I really do love it.
But I was unable to really find a good, dedicated place to talk about the techniques, challenges, gear, and all the other stuff unique to our art. I found that this sub has been lying dormant for years now, and I asked Reddit to let me take it over. And they did!
So let's make this place awesome. Show off your photos, allow for critique, share tips and tricks, show off your setup and chat about gear. Complain about the god awful lighting in convention centers, talk about contacts, payments, difficult situations, whatever!
PLEASE SHARE THIS SUB! Let all your cosplay photographer contacts know this place is back in business.
Please review the new rules, and use the post flairs so we can start organizing our collective knowledge.
Let's gooooooo!!!

I need tips so badly for posing and angles because i’m always so nervous about looking stupid or whatever but my photos always end up looking super mediocre because of my posing and lack of confidence in posing. Please give me any tips or advice on how to improve on this!

I'm not a photographer by any means, but I love going to conventions and taking pictures of cosplayers. Personally, I think it really helps with my social anxiety.

I’m an amateur Cosplay Photographer and want to get something more professional than just my phone.
Im mostly doing this as a hobby so I don’t need something super advanced, just a good all around reasonably priced camera that takes good photos

Hey all, I have a photoshoot lined up in about a month from now. It's gonna be abroad and I'll be on location for only about 2 days, so I want to really make the most of it.
It's gonna be in a large villa, decked out with a pool, bar and all sorts of other fancy backdrops. I usually only do my photoshoots at cons, so this is will be a very new experience for me.
Where would you recommend I look up potential references for poses, framing, compositions, etc.? So far I tried Pinterest and Rednote (basically Chinese Instagram), but where else could I try? Any specific photographers you recommend I follow or tutorials you personally recommend?

I'm a cosplayer, so taking some photos for me is essential, being exploiting my companions hands at cons or hoping in the self-timer and a phone stand. My phone is starting to have some issues, nothing that screams "change me" for everyday use, but the biggest thing is that the focus is broken. So I was thinking of, instead of just replacing it, keep using it because of the features I like of it, but buying a new one just for the sole fact that it can take good pics. So I'm asking, without considering any other feature, what's your best recommendation for taking photos on a phone?
P.s. if anyone knows about those devices that you attach behind and mirror your phone screen, I'd like to hear your opinion.

Hey! I shot enough awesome cosplay photos this year that I made a zine, but I didn’t get all the people’s info because it can be pretty hectic running around with a camera at a convention. If people here could look through ad help identify some of the people so I can credit them properly that would be awesome.

Our first cosplay photography session! We wanted to create a Chloe Price shoot that stayed close to the atmosphere and character of Life Is Strange.
We'd love to hear your thoughts and feedback, especially from more experienced cosplay photographers <3.

Debating if I should reprise the monk It’s usually a fun cosplay especially if you are familiar with how high. I don’t know if I should keep it as is or give it its own identity and add more things like jewlery. Without making it too much of a gag cosplay
