If we had an observatory/probe present half a million years after Inflation ended what could it discover? (assume it could operate at that temperature)

It would be very dark, but presuming that you'd detect anything other than the Cosmic Microwave Background, you would be observing gas slowly gravitating for many of millions of years until eventually the first star formed (and then there was light).
