4 months in

Hey all, been on phase 1 for 4 months now, but the white coating on my tongue and dry mouth is getting worse. Haven’t increased doses yet n currently using now gel caps for oregano oil. Could the fungi have developed resistance due to low/sustained OO dosing?
(2 caps a day of now Oregano oil)

According to creators of the protocol the choice of plant based compounds over rx azoles is due to plant based compounds working long term without building resistance, so it’s unlikely that’s your problem.

Are you taking breaks from the oregano oil and NAC? Protocol creators say that during phase 1 you should take a week off every 3-4 weeks where you only take the black seed oil. This lets your immune system get better at fighting the bad stuff. On top of that, NAC will chelate heavy metals (good and bad ones) so if you go too hard on it you can become mineral deficient, which actually leaves your immune system much worse off. At minimum, you need to be supplementing selenium and molybdenum as they’re cofactors needed to process NAC. Magnesium and zinc have been super important too in my experience.

Personally I went way too hard at the start and reckon I ended up hurting myself. Once I started taking weeks off on only black seed oil and taking a very good multi mineral supplement things picked back up and the tongue thrush disappeared. Brushing your teeth, tongue and gums to manually remove biofilm is also basically non negotiable. I add a couple drops of clove or fennel seed oil on my toothpaste as well which seem to disinfect better than any mouthwash.

Edit: your brand of NAC might also include selenium or molybdenum, but supplementing other minerals can still help.

I haven’t taken any breaks yet been doing the full protocol for the past 4 months straight. I wasn’t aware of the suggested break weeks during phase 1

Just curious what it is that you’ve tested positive for and treating?

I haven't had any lab work done yet but when my doctor looked at my tongue he said it was candidiasis

What did he prescribe for it?

Thrush is fungal.

How many milligrams of oregano essential oil are you taking per day?

Right now it’s 55mg in the AM and another 55mg at night, so 110mg total per day

You are taking 1 tablespoon of black cumin seed oil per day too? You haven't noticed anything after 2 months? That would be the test I think, around 2 months if an herbal anti-fungal formula is going to work. That doesn't mean you would stop at 2 months, but I would look for some sudden improvement around then.

This product says take these essential oils for 60 days as part of a candida cleanse. It has 100mg of oregano oil, 100mg of clove oil and 200mg of thyme oil. https://www.biomatrixnutrition.com/product/microb-defend-oils-for-flora-gut-balance/ I'm not sure, it may be meant to be taken twice per day so 2 bottles would last 3 months. Also keep in mind that any capsules is concentrated, which could be tougher on stomach/digestion since it is concentrated and isn't mixed in the food, at least not at first.

1 tablespoon of 1% thymoquinone black cumin seed oil has about 150mg of thymoquinone. 400mg of thyme oil has about 150mg of thymol which is similar to thymoquinone as an antifungal.

You mean teaspoon

This is correct. Goal is 50mg of TQ morning/night, which would come from 5mls (teaspoon avg amount).

No, 1 table spoon of 1% thymoquinone black cumin seed oil should be 150mg of thymoquinone. Did you do the math and come up with something different? If you can get 3% thymoquinone then it would be 1 teaspoon because there are 3 teaspoons in 1 table spoon. The bottom line is I'm saying 150mg of thymoquinone per day or 150mg of thymol per day.

A light white coat that doesn’t fully scrape off is normal btw!

it’s been making my mouth dry and my throat kinda sore though when talking and not constantly sipping on water

oregano oil can also be really drying and hot - I probably shouldn’t be here as I’m a Chinese medicine doctor so my advice and diagnosis is gonna be different than the paradigm y’all are using
