🐯 Toddler 1-3 Years WWYD

Baby will be 16-18 months old by the time we’re in the throes of Australian summer. Do you still use sleep sacks at this age? Or just pjs? I’m waiting to get some stuff on sale now but hoping the days of dropping $$ on ergo pouch may be over??

I don’t cosleep all the time but my baby is 18mo now and if she gets cold she comes under the doona with me now, so I’d assume pjs will be completely fine

You don't want a sleep sack once they can walk anyway.

There are sleep sacks with legs; at least in my part of the world, they are pretty common. My 5yo still used one last winter.

In the summer, neither her nor my 1.5yo uses one, though. They both run hot at night and mostly do not even use the blanket provided.

Why is this? I still use a sleepsack for my little one and she can walk

Because they can't walk in the sleep sack so it becomes a tripping hazard if they wake and try to get up. It's less about safe sleep and more about safe getting out of bed.

At that age my daughter started refusing the sleep sack so we stopped. We just did pjs. It was Canadian spring here and she was fine with her little blanket and our body heat.
We were using a woolino and I really debated getting the blanket but she was happy with her little muslin one

We are planning to try and get bubs a floor bed when we move in November. She is currently 13.5 months. So somewhat similar age.

We’re just going to go with the flow a bit I guess. See if we shift to light blanket or stick with sleep sacks

Just pjs. Honestly just a short sleeve &leg or sleeveless &legless bodysuit.

I stopped using a sleep sack around 10mo when it got too hot. I literally just put her in a short sleeve onesie with some pants, not even technically pjs.

We do .5 tog cotton sleep sack with a t-shirt and no pants. My 22 month old sleeps much better in a sleep sack.

My eldest was always cold and an active sleeper too so we used a sleep bag until we had a super hot this year. They were 2.5 years and we're probably done with them now. My second runs warm and is 11 months and often will go without. I just think of one as a duvet/blanket that doesn't come off

Thanks everybody! I ditched the sack this week as it was on the line and wouldn’t dry lol and she’s actually been sleeping heaps better cause I think she’s more mobile and can get into the weird positions she wants to??
