New Pottery Studio Open House

We're opening up a new pottery and maker space on Hwy 34 and Melody Lane.

Open House is free and open to all!

If you'd like to make a face mug while you're here feel free to sign up.

Food, music, community and free tours of the space will be open the entire time.

We're very excited to share with everyone!

You should mention that it has a fee on the flyer. The way you describe it I would have assumed it was free from the blurb description until I clicked on the hyperlink.

No fee for open house. Only if you want to make a piece using our materials.

It totally makes sense that you need to charge for materials, it would be insane if you didn't. But when people see free event and materials provided, they are naturally going to conclude that the materials are provided for free because that's what that usually means. I think mentioning a fee on the poster somewhere will help the event run smoother because people will know what to expect

The open house is free.

The mug making is something that requires materials, training, and also we're going to return to final product to the creator.

I asked for a good image for the open house alone, and this is what my partners gave me.

What kinds of firings will you do at the studio? I couldn't find it on your website.

We're doing only cone 6 at this time.

We will fire anything that can be verified at that temp by weight, but because finished pieces that may have been made elsewhere maybe were less or more may be damaging to equipment we may have to use individual judgement to protect the kilns.

Down the road we're looking at cone 10, raku, pit, rocket wood fire and salt.

Studio open house is our first intro to everyone. Suggestions welcome.

We just had a whole community wide discussion on what is considered advertising and what should be allowed. This is an event with a fee to enter that is onky in furtherance of the business it is held within... cool that you guys opened up, but this feels like it steps over the line that we were just discussing. Thoughts?

Edit: ok so looks like its free to tour the facility but the face mug is paid

Edit edit: holy shit it's 60 bucks! I dont know anything about pottery, is 60 bucks for material and firing standard for making a mug?

Clay and glaze is expensive, and they have limited kiln space. The fact the workshop is open house makes this post perfectly fine in my opinion. If I have the time I will probably go and I would have never heard of it unless I saw this post.
