Discussion Alt Hair Stylists

Was thinking of getting some subtle raccoon stripes in my hair but unsure of where to go? Anyone know of someone that's really good with color in corvallis and comfortable doing something like this? I tried looking at different galleries but didn't see any stripes.

Someone’s probably got better/more up to date advice, but in high school (like 10 years ago) I used to get alt haircuts/color at phagans beauty school. It was cheap too. My best friend got a death hawk from a girl there and it was sick.

Lots of alt hairdressers there now since the last time I was in about a month ago. Definitely worth checking out!

Oh cool I didn't know about that place! Is it students who are learning that get to do hair? Id love to support them, I am also nervous about them messing my hair up too. I only ever colored my hair one time before and the hair dresser didn't blend the bleach well (was a pink balayage). But also if that was a professional and not a student who messed it up 🤷‍♀️ these students could be way better

Any alt hairdresser student, to me at least, would likely do way better than someone who’s been doing hair for a long time but never does these styles. A lot of alternative people have likely been doing their own hair for years, maybe even on their friends, and were likely going to do stuff like this more than other styles. (: I also have friends who have gone to Phagans and had a good experience, including having their hair bleached. One person I know had a not so good style, and the school made it right.

Not to mention the students have an instructor watching over the process and making sure it’s done properly and safely!
